It's definitely not for everybody. Last episode got a bit too exotic for me. I guess I'm just not used to movies set in those countries. Plus the teenage life of a girl is kinda cringe.
You mean you didn't get what was happening because they were in a place you know nothing about?
Or as in you can't follow a plot with brown people in it?
Everything about the episode was super straight forward.
Hell, they even made fun of Kamala for being such an American tourist.
Everything about the Partition was over-explained to the degree where it got annoying that the viewer is assumed to be absolutely ignorant about the end of British-occupied India in the 40s.
That bottom one and things like it make me so very mad. Critics, by the nature of their work, are going to be tuned into elements of filmmaking that viewers remain aware of. So if a work is good at those things, it may well be that they like something the rest of us don't. But thr reverse is not supposed to happen. Critics, by the very nature of their job, are supposed to be aware of what I like. And in a world where there is more media than we could possibly consume, we rely on critics to tell us what to check out. So when they pan something people like, they are actively doing us a disservice. And it makes me feel like I've been robbed when it happens.
I genuinely couldn't watch past the opening scene with her "lol so quirky" Zoomer animated indie film presentation (the style of which was totally ripped-off from Mitchells vs the Machines) on how great Captain Marvel is and basically gave her all the credit for defeating Thanos when Tony was the one who ended him.
Without memeing what's the actual selling point of this show? Every other show has been returning characters except Moon Knight, which had the quasi mystery split personality gimmick. Even among the one's with returning characters, the best ones had some selling point like WV's quirky TV thing and Loki's alternate timeline stuff (plus all the selfcest). What does Ms. Marvel actually have going for it?
That's it? But real feminists don't like shit that just panders to them and doesn't do anything else. They want good stories that happen to have diversity and liberal themes. This whole thing where Hollywood says "I added feminism, now frick you pay me" only works with fake feminists (I guess the term is virtue signaling, but I really mean critics).
Honestly, I don't care about politics, feminism, or diversity in media as long as the story is good. It's when they replace a good narrative with diversity and act like the diversity gives it value that I have an problem.
Basically the little people that watch it gave it a perfect score, it's pretty much a niche character and appeal, if the next movie is truly around her the general public might not be interested in Captain Marvel 2
highest rated as in "critics" rating?
>critics are always wrong except when I agree with them
Yeah. Critics get paid to be right
Are we defending critics now?
I’m genuinely asking
When it aligns with Daddy Mickey's agenda, of course Cinemaphile will.
All this could've been avoided if she just fricking stretched
So how many Disney+ subscribers actually gave it a try before saying "nope" vs people who never bothered in the first plae?
I literally pirate all shows on streaming platforms, I haven't paid for a streaming platform in years

isn't it set in the US?
last episode they went to pakistan
Last ep was pure kino. I couldn't believe they'd go through trouble of filming that chase scene.
>highly rated
>small fanbase
How is that the duality of man?
>critics disagreeing with audience
not the first time, won't be the last
disagreeing with audience
that's not what's happening though?

But that's not really hot take.
jesus christ, that's not how I imagined kamala khan. too pudgy
I would forgive many of this show's sins if only Kamala were hot
