Working with children requires extra precautions and transparency and comes with extra responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is assuaging fears that the children might be put into unsafe situations, so now that accusations have officially been made, it is in Nick's court to prove them false or ignore them. But again, since Nick has hired multiple people that had a history of sexual offenses against minors, I don't think silence speaks well in this case.
