When they raided his house they have pics and souvenirs for all the victims, except Mills wife conveniently. Why? He did not know they were coming

It was a retcon for the movie to have a pure sensationalist misery porn ending. Nothing more, nothing less. Plus, John Doe was making too much sense. You had to make him kill a pregnant woman bc he's le crazy so people don't think about what he said in the car and the fact none of his actual victims were actually innocent. a theory does state Tracy may have wanted to abort the child without telling Mills.

For me, the better ending is Pitt killing himself (suicide) and robbing Spacey of his perfect ending. In fact, I can see Spacey's character having a meltdown if Pitt shot himself instead of becoming "wrath".
