It's the flagship and not having an escort flotilla or even just a couple of light cruisers has fricked it up more than not.
There are no good arguments for why it had to travel solo. None. Zero. There is only cope.

>The Enterprise should've had an escort
dude they have the holodeck, you can literally have sex with anyone you want.
Funny.
Well, they don't. And you can't make them. Sleep well tonight.
That's why it's bad sci-fi.
Post your script for the sci-fi show to end all sci-fi shows.
I'll just list off a few aspects of shows that should've happened by now
>high-res space car simulator a la Bebop
>space survival like Firefly
>beautiful space imagery like hubble (WTF where is this?)
>detailed launch and deorbit sequences
>properly futurized planet with tiers aboveground and below, arcology
>hollow or mined out planet
etc etc
im watching discovery
say something
ANYTHING
Anything.
thanks :]
discovery s2 is one of the worst seasons of any tv show ive watched
its surprising because i think the actors and production were good. but its shocking that writers could suck that bad
>There are no good arguments
It's a fricking TV show. if you're going to nitpick on details like escorts for a flagship then you got a hell a lot of other logic fallacies in Star Trek starting with faster than light travel, teleportation and the ludicrously common M-class planets that are populated by extremely similar looking humanoids. Then there's all of those fricking caves they keep finding. The ones with a perfectly flat floors and roofs that look like they're sound stages.
Honestly, this is one of the stupidest nitpicky things I've seen posted about Star Trek considering all the other bullshit we ignore in our suspension of disbelief.
I got two words for you buddy
warp combat
I don't even like star trans
Technically can't the ship (most Starfleet ships in fact) split apart and turn into separate mini ships WITH weapons? I know in Voyager this is shown in the episode where Andy Dick makes a cameo as the Mark 2 on another Starfleet ship, and we already know that the Enterprise can detach from its lower half.
And also aren't they weaponized up the ass?
Filming the saucer separation was expensive, so they only filmed the Enterprise-D with the saucer section and the stardrive section separate from each other sparingly.
I'm sure it can be done more frequently if the Enterprise were animated.
The Federation makes a big show about their ships not being military vessels so it makes sense that they wouldn't out their ships together in a military formation.
Then they shouldn't be using military terms. It's also pretty fricking stupid considering the Enterprise is a storied ship-of-the-line name with a long heritage of victory. Even more stupid when you consider that every Enterprise from the Star Trek shows have a decent body count and are formidable fighting ships, even if they have mandated daycares and other dumb shit on them.
Why wouldn't the Federation want a make a show of force in the Neutral Zone where they're supposed to be deterring Romulans. You sound like a pussy who would've rolled over for hostile races.
You're changing the subject - the Enterprise's (and Starfleet's) primary mission is to seek out new life, thus the Enterprise-D was built for diplomacy and exploration, not aggression.
Then why does it have weapons at all?
For defense.
Then it should also have an escort, thanks for proving my point.
Escort ships do more than just provide more firepower, they can help with escort and humanitarian missions, or lend assistance in emergency scenarios like engine failures, which happens to the Enterprise a lot.
Saying a ship has to fly solo because it's meant for diplomacy/exploration makes zero sense, might as well not send big ships with massive crews at all then. Just send one-man shuttles everywhere.
>Saying a ship has to fly solo because it's meant for diplomacy/exploration makes zero sense
Well, 1) having more ships when you're on a diplomatic mission can be viewed as a sign of aggression to alien worlds, and 2) whatever phenomena-of-the-day that affects the Enterprise can very well affect any other ship that's with it.
Also, exploring the galaxy in tiny ships can be treacherous, with the risk of hostile races in larger ships attacking or abducting Starfleet personnel.
What makes you think the Federation cannot afford to give ships escorts, as they need everyone exploring the galaxy?
>can be viewed as a sign of aggression
Showing up in any large heavily armed ship would do that.
>What makes you think the Federation cannot afford to give ships escorts
Nothing, which is why they should have escort ships.
>Showing up in any large heavily armed ship would do that.
Which proves that having more ships would make things worse.
>Nothing, which is why they should have escort ships.
Like I said, they probably need every ship they have to explore the galaxy. And not just explore the galaxy, but also carry out diplomatic and humanitarian missions. While the Enterprise's main mission is to seek out new life, the rest of Starfleet is out there exploring the galaxy (as mentioned before), and maintaining established relations with those who have joined the United Federation of Planets.
The Enterprise should've defended the Maquis against corrupt Starfleet
>not having an escort
How insecure would it look to need a chaperone? Btw the enterprise can separate into two ships if needed so your argument is....moot
>Btw the enterprise can separate into two ships
Which takes like 50 hours and is impossible to do in the middle of a firefight, also saucer section isn't warp-capable.
Why do they call it a flag ship when there is no flag officer on board and the ship doesn't lead a squadron?
Is it really a flagship? It's a exploration vessel.
it's not supposed to be a combat vessel
armed escorts send the wrong message
This. It's not like they're a carrier group in the fricking Red Sea, they're supposed to be exploring. Try showing up to a new species contact with a fricking battle group, good luck earning trust.
Starfleet keeps sending it to the Neutral Zone alone to ward off the Romulans, you're telling me it's still just supposed to be an exploratory vessel? You lying prostitutes.
File a complaint with Starfleet Command.
What station, ship, or crew would you like to be part of?
Me personally it seems I would find it cozy as part of the Star Trek Enterprise crew.
SNW to creep on christina chong
It is not a flagship.
It rarely ever had a flag officer such as a fleet captain, commodore, or admiral.
It is a flagship in a ceremonial sense, not in a command sense.
is it even possible for enterprise to have an escort? I thought it was the fastest ship and nobody could keep up with its massive engines
Not to mention no other ship managed to travel several galaxies away and managed to get back.

No, I can't, I can't even try!
would have scared the shit out of 90% of the places they’de end up at. you’re talking about war posturing. it would really make people uneasy I think. not what they were looking for
And Sisko mentioned how he was opposed on the Defiant project.
He was supposed to have more Defiants than just the prototype.
Still the best looking Enterprise.
