I liked it. Too bad it got canned. Showrunners had a five season story ready.
So it's bad AND cancelled? I was letting the seasons pile up because I hate modern HBOs cryptic bullshit but like sci fi and Ridley.

I'm sad too. It was weird and I let everything they were doing wash over me. I wanted to see where their crazy ideas were going. I wanted to know more about the planets lore and what grandma was doing.

Heh. Haven't heard anyone say it was deep. Only thing that kept me going was the strange lore and it's visuals. I wasn't a fan of the production short cuts like filming in day and adding filters to make it seem like night but whatever. I can't fault it too much, I feel like it was supposed to be crazy and i was willing to go along for whatever stupid place they ended up going to. I knew what I was watching.

Word on the street is that HBO were in two minds about keeping this or Westworld, Because Lisa Joy is a women and they wanted to promote more Female producers of SciFi Westworld was renewed
I thought it was one of those things where, because Covid, and whoever owned the property had to decide what to cut and this was it. It was very much related to funding or whatever and less about ratings.
I saw a tweet from a HBO guy last year musing that one big scifi show would not be renewed, he said someting like its still up in the air but he mentioned Lisa Joy having a lot of clout

agreed. strange visuals and an all-around weird show that did not spoon-feed you, but of course that is too random for most people these days, so naturally, it had to be canceled.
Plot is the first thing you recognise in media as a child. It's lowest common denominator stuff. Most people don't advance beyond this stage as they grow older, which is sad because mediums like film/tv are about so much more than plot.
I don't get it, why does this get canceled while pure fricking dog shit like westworld keeps getting seasons despite literally no one is watching it or talking about it.
