I was disappointed in the cgi alien looking dumb but the movie was alright in general. which it had kept the vibe if the first 20 minutes and maybe had the aliens stay hidden longer

Well we saw that when the aliens put the throat bug in you that you get sent into your own personal matrix where everything is perfect (Maude is alive again) but she rejected it because she was so defined by Maude's death that she realized it was fake, so when they consulted the ship computer it told them that what would work better was if they changed her matrix to be her being forgiven by everyone for it and could become part of the community again (because she was Alienated, get it?) So in the end the aliens still get her they just had to give her a more believable fantasy world to go into.

The whole thing was moronic, child accidentally kills her best friend so everybody treats her like a leper for it until she dies since she can be hold accountable and shit.
Lives alone in a giant house in luxury with absolutely no hint as to how she supports herself, then the moronic aliens came with obvious superior technology but of course the tard girl can kill multiple ones, then when they saw her very thought out incredible sad story they decided to create a world for her to live in. So the aliens are redeemed and the girl too, since the viewer now understand why she's so remorseful and miserable and forgive her etc. What the frick.
Seeing anything more into it is pretentious at best. Watch it for the alien kino if you want to
