I like the emotional balance angle, too much of anything is not healthy not even joy, a good example of this is Jake Long where the gal who could see nothing but good things in the future got jaded of all the good stuff in life while her sister had the opposite problem and was cheerful even in inappropriate situations.
With the kind of references we get with the staff, I can sort of see this as a "the mob boss just got killed" thing where there's a huge powergrab. Nothing changed but, now organized crime is no longer organized. A lot of ghosts are gonna become a problem from time to time and because Molly toppled the kingpin it's her responsibility to fix it.
But, that will probably only be a few episodes in between bake sales, SOL family fun and school. This seems like the norm for a show like this but, the writers wanted a nice jumping off point so we like the characters first, in S1, and aren't just flogged with ghost lore, unexplained powers and a weak cast of characters the audience doesn't connect to going on "epic" adventures. It's be like watching "The Real Ghostbusters" show without seeing the movie first

The Chairman was a misery-devouring spirit who demanded other ghosts feed him or he'd start feeding on the ghosts. He was also the only thing giving the Ghost Council power to rule.
You can bet the Ghost Council won't surrender their authority so easily, and Molly is now a direct threat to them. Also now there's a joy assassin, so Molly just earned herself a rouge gallery to exercise her new joyfu against.
What were the origins of the chairman? Is he Satan in this universe or the spirit of a very bitter human? So many questions.

I think they played it safe, and just in case they got cancelled after 1 season, they solved everything they had at the moment. It's a smart move given today's industry.
S2 premiere is called the new paranormal, so they'll establish a new threat by then. Maybe the ghosts being let loose all over Brighton or maybe Molly has a time limit of life as a wraith.
Yeah this felt more like a series finale with how the wrapped everything up, a little rushed, once they got back home everything ended quite suddenly.
Well by killing the chairman, Molly's definitely created a power vacuum. And with the prospect that they don't have to cause misery to feed the chairman, there's bound to be a shift in the ghost world between those who cling to the old ways and those who embrace the change. Hell Molly's probably made some enemies of the council with what she did here

Yes, the show is slice of life cartoon stuff but it mixes that fun chaos that IS the character of Molly. It definitely has some edge, and I hope season 2 has some new conflicts as well.

The finale actually surprised me (in a good way). I expected Molly to more just talk it out with the Ghost Council to get Scratch back, not just straight up kill (?) the Chairman. Though by this point, we do know Molly's wrath is something to be feared.
Anyways, good way to wrap things up and looking forward to more. Hope they start the new season before the end of the year.

Yeah, I feel that's the real thing Molly had going for her. She sort of cheated her way into the ghost world and still had the positivity and joy that anyone who had naturally or unnaturally died would not have.

I'm more disappointed because the chairman had a really neat design that went to waste. Jinx looks incredibly bland compared to the chairman if she's supposed to take over as the main "antagonist" for season 2.
