I think ghosts all share the same basic powerset, and the joy thing is a Molly exclusive, maybe but it's still maybe possible for other ghosts to learn that. So soul cleaving Molly isn't off the table.

Quite the opposite, the status quo has changed, season two will have multiple full length episodes, and Jinx will be the main villain of the next season. The showrunners have also confirmed they'll explore more of the ghost world and its lore, even Scratch's backstory.

The reality is most modern kids get most of their "humor" from Youtube Videos, Vine or TikTok.
The try and true thing that brings in the demo that Disney or any animation corporation wants tends to be slapstick humor. That's why Ed Edd and Eddy was a popular show because it was 11 minutes of random senseless violence as the joke.

A lot of episodes from 1B felt rushed. Andrea's redemption arc, the Mayor episode.
See in a lot of ways this felt like this show only had 1 season's worth of material. In a lot of ways it also feels like they need to force Andrea into certain plots because she's in a special category all her own now.
andrea's not redeemed yet. she's still a naturally shitty person, she just did one good thing for MOLLY that didn't make molly hate her. (She still had two episodes where molly felt bad for and sympathized for her along the way.)
Andrea is still naturally self-absorbed and tramples all over others to get her glory. She's one step away from making fake puppy rescue videos.
She's not redeemed, she's only just STARTED her journey. Scratch and Libby didn't take kindly to her inserting herself as Molly's BFF and Molly was reluctant to hug her but did so anyways when she realized it was still a genuinely kind thing of her to have done, even if she probably was motivated by popularity and having a poor friend to dote on.
Andrea's gonna have alot of misadventures and drama between now and being actually redeemed, methinks.

"The Jig Is Up" was a great episode that is permeated by a sense of dread.
The council suspects that there's joy in Brighton, so they send a ruthless "joy hunter" named Jinx, whom Scratch must stop.
Throughout the episode, we find out about the true nature of the Chairman, as well as all sorts of hijinks between Scratch and Jinx to hide Molly from her.
Alas, as we all know, it fails, and Jinx attempts to eliminate her, but Scratch intervened.
This leads to a tragic scene of Scratch being dragged to the Ghost World while Molly tries to hold on, similar to the scene from the Season 2 finale of 'The Owl House'. Afterwards, we get a shot of the titles, where the first part of it is blown away.
Following that is "Molly vs. the Ghost World", where we see Scratch on trial while Molly find a way to the Ghost World.
In desperation, Molly's ghost ends up separating from her body, becoming a wraith, and allowing her to enter the realm.
We explore more of the Ghost World before we reach the dramatic showdown with the Chairman and the Ghost Council, and what results is one of the most powerful sequences in the show.
I won't spoil, but I will say they copied 'The Owl House' here too.
While it was a tad anticlimactic at the end, it was more than a glorious season finale, and quite early in the run, too. If it weren't for the show's renewal, it would have been a great finale.
Thus, I'll give the two a combined rating of 9.5/10.

Even that "toy" comment from Lucky Penny can be interpreted in 2 different ways where Mr Davenport wants to normalize the idea that only material possession can = love so he can back out of actually, y'know, hugging his daughter like how a normal father should be treating his children.
andrea's not in the BFF circle yet. she did one nice thing but she still has a terrible demeanor and manner of treating people while glory seeking for her own benefit. even helping molly was still a bit "HEY FANDREAS LOOK AT ALL THE GOOD WORK WE DID FOR THIS POOR BROWNIE. THANKS FOR LOVING ME BYEBYE!!"
Molly was thankful but we're still looking at setup for Andrea trying to rope molly into shit won't cause friction with libby and scratch and also molly's nature and andreas nature clashing and causing friction. andrea's still a glory hog. Molly wants to make people happy, but Andrea is just hungry for attention. molly's gonna feel guilt about hating andrea after she helped them keep their house, but also she's going to feel enraged at andrea treating her like a pet.
it's all set up there for season 2. if she was just "part of the crew" then she would have been in the attic with molly and libby, but they didn't even think to call her over because she's not actually at a redemption yet. there's still more juice in that tank.
They didn't call Andrea because she wasn't in on the McGee's secret about Scratch. Now that there's no risk in hiding his presence, she's probably going to be upgraded to actual friend status.
but she's not really their friend. libby and scratch don't like her and molly hasn't involved her with anything since the thank you hug. (It was a thank you hug, it means she's willing to give andrea a chance but that doesn't mean andrea is suddenly a good person who didn't carelessly make kat cry by passive aggressively demeaning her in the tallent show episode. she's still self absorbed and a shitty person. She tried to "help" molly with her movie before and ended up trampling all over everyone else so she could make it about herself and her need to have all of the attention. that person hasn't changed yet. molly just happened to be the poor soul she did livestreams about that week.
It's a potential source of episode-to-episode conflict if the show goes that route; Andrea learning to be a friend while Molly has to deal with her still spoiled, privileged, jerk-ass nature.

Her plan is to make not only Brighton but the entire Mortal dimension miserable to make up for all the lost time since Misery meters across the board are probably gonna be flatlining now because with the Council gone there is no reason to send in Scare Reports so the Ghost Dimension is gonna fall into Spectral Anarchy.

Just like the prequels before it, it'll become more appreciated with age. The other two of the sequel trilogy will never be fondly remembered.
I think the problem is that we've been spoiled by what now amounts to a decade of "buildup villains". Toffee, the lich, all that stuff. Then you look at the chairman and think "oh yeah big end game antagonist" but by all means he could very well be just an ancient evil spirit dementor-style, that feeds on misery but it's not completely invulnerable. I would have liked him to amount to more, but because I'm spoiled, not because he really needed to.
i think molly hits a really strong balance of episodic and an evolving narrative well. season 1 is about this, season 2 will be about something else. (The ghost world in chaos with mischief and trouble running rampant in the human world, and jynx tries to pick up the pieces?)

Honestly, this is the direction I think they are going for. Molly super excited being in Wraith form but also have to deal with her body left behind. I can totally see a parallel scene with S1E1 in S2 when Molly and Scratch had to deal with Andreas unconscious body.
If they want to be truly cliche, empty shell molly becomes popular among a group of emo/gothic kids and wraith molly has trouble getting back in her body.
If they want to do something a bit more interesting, since molly tends to get carried away, she starts to use or depend on her wraith form too much, but she doesn't realise her physical body starts getting hurt the more she stays out of it.

A lot of episodes from 1B felt rushed. Andrea's redemption arc, the Mayor episode.
See in a lot of ways this felt like this show only had 1 season's worth of material. In a lot of ways it also feels like they need to force Andrea into certain plots because she's in a special category all her own now.
andrea's not redeemed yet. she's still a naturally shitty person, she just did one good thing for MOLLY that didn't make molly hate her. (She still had two episodes where molly felt bad for and sympathized for her along the way.)
Andrea is still naturally self-absorbed and tramples all over others to get her glory. She's one step away from making fake puppy rescue videos.
She's not redeemed, she's only just STARTED her journey. Scratch and Libby didn't take kindly to her inserting herself as Molly's BFF and Molly was reluctant to hug her but did so anyways when she realized it was still a genuinely kind thing of her to have done, even if she probably was motivated by popularity and having a poor friend to dote on.
Andrea's gonna have alot of misadventures and drama between now and being actually redeemed, methinks.

I watched the episodes today. They were a rush.
"The Jig Is Up" was a great episode that is permeated by a sense of dread.
The council suspects that there's joy in Brighton, so they send a ruthless "joy hunter" named Jinx, whom Scratch must stop.
Throughout the episode, we find out about the true nature of the Chairman, as well as all sorts of hijinks between Scratch and Jinx to hide Molly from her.
Alas, as we all know, it fails, and Jinx attempts to eliminate her, but Scratch intervened.
This leads to a tragic scene of Scratch being dragged to the Ghost World while Molly tries to hold on, similar to the scene from the Season 2 finale of 'The Owl House'. Afterwards, we get a shot of the titles, where the first part of it is blown away.
Following that is "Molly vs. the Ghost World", where we see Scratch on trial while Molly find a way to the Ghost World.
In desperation, Molly's ghost ends up separating from her body, becoming a wraith, and allowing her to enter the realm.

While it was a tad anticlimactic at the end, it was more than a glorious season finale, and quite early in the run, too. If it weren't for the show's renewal, it would have been a great finale.

Mr Davenport is gonna take advantage of the idea that Molly and Andrea are friends now so Mr Davenport can focus more on work and then Molly is gonna use this as a means to emotionally manipulate Andrea into finally noticing how much of an butthole her father has always been because he gives her everything instead of the one thing she wants more then anything which is love and attention
Even that "toy" comment from Lucky Penny can be interpreted in 2 different ways where Mr Davenport wants to normalize the idea that only material possession can = love so he can back out of actually, y'know, hugging his daughter like how a normal father should be treating his children.

andrea's not in the BFF circle yet. she did one nice thing but she still has a terrible demeanor and manner of treating people while glory seeking for her own benefit. even helping molly was still a bit "HEY FANDREAS LOOK AT ALL THE GOOD WORK WE DID FOR THIS POOR BROWNIE. THANKS FOR LOVING ME BYEBYE!!"
Molly was thankful but we're still looking at setup for Andrea trying to rope molly into shit won't cause friction with libby and scratch and also molly's nature and andreas nature clashing and causing friction. andrea's still a glory hog. Molly wants to make people happy, but Andrea is just hungry for attention. molly's gonna feel guilt about hating andrea after she helped them keep their house, but also she's going to feel enraged at andrea treating her like a pet.
it's all set up there for season 2. if she was just "part of the crew" then she would have been in the attic with molly and libby, but they didn't even think to call her over because she's not actually at a redemption yet. there's still more juice in that tank.
They didn't call Andrea because she wasn't in on the McGee's secret about Scratch. Now that there's no risk in hiding his presence, she's probably going to be upgraded to actual friend status.
but she's not really their friend. libby and scratch don't like her and molly hasn't involved her with anything since the thank you hug. (It was a thank you hug, it means she's willing to give andrea a chance but that doesn't mean andrea is suddenly a good person who didn't carelessly make kat cry by passive aggressively demeaning her in the tallent show episode. she's still self absorbed and a shitty person. She tried to "help" molly with her movie before and ended up trampling all over everyone else so she could make it about herself and her need to have all of the attention. that person hasn't changed yet. molly just happened to be the poor soul she did livestreams about that week.
It's a potential source of episode-to-episode conflict if the show goes that route; Andrea learning to be a friend while Molly has to deal with her still spoiled, privileged, jerk-ass nature.
She essentially becomes Scratch now that Scratch can't be Scratch.

Kinda, felt like a more rushed fine than any of the other disney finales few years.

You got memed. The Chairman NEVER demonstrated that he had any powers besides condemning people to the flow of failed phantoms. His power was entirely institutional. Molly broke the system, and he broke too.
The moment every non-council ghost fears him that directly means the Chairman was a threat enough for Scratch to stick his neck for Molly to never interact with the Council.
Being defeated this easily left me a 'meh' sour taste

Just like the prequels before it, it'll become more appreciated with age. The other two of the sequel trilogy will never be fondly remembered.
I think the problem is that we've been spoiled by what now amounts to a decade of "buildup villains". Toffee, the lich, all that stuff. Then you look at the chairman and think "oh yeah big end game antagonist" but by all means he could very well be just an ancient evil spirit dementor-style, that feeds on misery but it's not completely invulnerable. I would have liked him to amount to more, but because I'm spoiled, not because he really needed to.
i think molly hits a really strong balance of episodic and an evolving narrative well. season 1 is about this, season 2 will be about something else. (The ghost world in chaos with mischief and trouble running rampant in the human world, and jynx tries to pick up the pieces?)

Honestly, this is the direction I think they are going for. Molly super excited being in Wraith form but also have to deal with her body left behind. I can totally see a parallel scene with S1E1 in S2 when Molly and Scratch had to deal with Andreas unconscious body.

If they want to be truly cliche, empty shell molly becomes popular among a group of emo/gothic kids and wraith molly has trouble getting back in her body.
If they want to do something a bit more interesting, since molly tends to get carried away, she starts to use or depend on her wraith form too much, but she doesn't realise her physical body starts getting hurt the more she stays out of it.
