I am tired of filmfans and famous filmmakers claiming 2001 is one of the greatest movies ever.

I mean yes, it was revolutionary when it released and it changed everything, but lots of it is outdated now.

    The monkeys look cheap
the stuardesses have 60s costumes and hair.

the story is the "generic A.I goes against mankind"

it's a good movie but it does not hold up.

the only good part of it that holds up is the soundtrack and the landscape space shots.

it is not Kubrick's best movie.
His other movies such as Shining and Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut feel mych more timeless.

2001 is overrated like Citizen Kane

That's not the story. It's one part of a much larger story, that being the bridging of our intellect with our base primal humanity as a species. Only one we embrace both can we transcend.

I'm not afraid to say that Star Wars 1977 on its own is the best movie ever made.

I was personally underwhelmed by the Godfather. Parasite is shit. Dark Knight is pretty good but not one of the best, same with Pulp Fiction. Whiplash is a decent movie, nowhere near one of the best. Stalker is overrated pseudo-intellectual trash. Spirited Away is good, but overrated, not one of the best. Shawshank I'd say deserves to be called one of the best. Haven't seen the others.

I hate it when people put movies on their lists because it's expected for them to be on there. I like seeing movies like Thin Red Line or Tombstone or even something like Step Brothers on someone's top movie lists.
