      Explain why it's good

        Anonymous

it's very well done, the story is great, the characters are very interesting, cinematography great, amazing music, it's part satirical (it exposes Hollywood as a culture). then there's a whole show within the show, that if you know the controversy that surrounded the production and the release, you'll see the plot matches what happened, at least figuratively, which makes it even more interesting.

Yeah, I agree that the Weeeknd acting was pretty bad. He wanted to copy the success Levinson + Drake had on euphoria. Which is funny, because while Drake can act, he didn't feel a need to insert himself past a producer role.,

his acting wasn't actually that bad. It was just a bad fit. He wasn't believable as that character. It was like Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. The weeknd has zero charisma, is too dorky and comes off as a tryhard. Made no sense why she would be attracted to him or why anyone would listen to him. A literal charisma vacuum.

Was it satire? What is the story? If it's just gay-ass edgy depravity for its own sake, I have no interest, but if it's a sort of cautionary tale, I could dig that. Maybe it's supposed to be like Kids, where dummies and gays think it's something to emulate, but it was a parody of hedonsim.

it's just a weird power fantasy

A popsinger on the verge of releasing a new hit single is struggling with the recent death of her mother. Her management is worried that she might not be able to pull it off and start considering other talent. Some random club owner takes advantage of her vulnerable state to infest her life in almost every aspect, injecting his cult like followers into her home and pretty much taking over. He starts fricking her both physically and emotionally, and causing her to redo her music and worrying her management. He's able to pull a rawness out of her that improves her music, the talent he brought into her home turns out to be something she can use in her show, and she starts having a falling out with the club owner (weeknd) because she learned that their meeting wasn't organic but a setup he had worked on. She proves to her management that she's capable of putting on a stellar show, and that the weeknd is not in control of her, and has them remove him from her life. A few weeks/months later her show is about to start and it's revealed that she was using the weeknd the entire time. They reconcile but not before she shows him who is in charge.

it's a show made by someone that was told euphoria is a hit and very popular, they proceeded to look up the most popular clips from the show, figured that the substance within the clips are what made the show popular, and proceeded to make an entire show based around generating those clips.

for me, better. the writing is tighter, no filler storylines and I prefer the aesthetics of the idol. 2 seasons of Euphoria could have been made in 5 or 6 episodes mini-series too, because it's obvious he only cares about Rue's story.

no. another myth propagated by woke morons from twitter. the original order was for 6 episodes and when levinson took over he said i can do it in 5. my guess is it's how they convinced HBO to reshoot the whole thing.

decent but not as good as euphoria. you can tell the weekend brought it down writing-wise but i felt his performance as tedros was spot on. definitely didn't deserve the hate it got. people were told this show sucks by a few woke influencers and it spread like wildfire. such is the era of NPCs.

because tedros is supposed to be a shitty tryhard moron. yeah he has great taste in music and a knack for discovering people, but is not smart enough to accomplish all he wants. that's why he's been to prison twice. the weekend nailed the character and if you didn't think he did, you seriously didn't get what tedros was.

        [...]
to add to that, woke influencers opinions don't change how stupid the story is, especially what was supposed to be the twist at the end. It's just bad.

nah, he did good. you don't like the character and are projecting that onto the actor. it was not a difficult role, he just needed to act like a hood rat out of his depth and he did it. it's like batista in guardians of the galaxy, simple role but spot on performance you won't appreciate if you don't like drax. simple as.

and all because they read some headlines with trigger words "female director fired", "rape male fantasy".
the irony is that the final episode, that makes clear she had always been the strong one, has the lowest imdb ranking. they were so eager to be outraged, that when they couldn't in the end, they were outraged because the show didn't deliver on its "promise" (it was actually the Rolling Stone article that promised that, the show always indicated she can take care of herself)
