The whole Infinity Stone Host plotline has been going since 2019

The pandemic happened which caused some of the issues to get reworked entirely (for example the Thor Annual was going to be a part of Brisson's Ghost Rider run but since it got canceled it got reworked into a standalone by Aaron Kuder)
This along with the Death Stone is all set up for the Thanos event that Cates had teased in Thor
