yeah yeah boomer, we know that New York new york and boxcar bertha are his best movies and an underrated clasics, now go to a different thread, this is a kinosseur's place
Not even close. It's deeply flawed, especially by the ridiculous idea of having DeNiro de-aged. Pacino did the best performance, Peschi felt like he was phoning it in, the cinematography was bland at best, and it had a shit soundtrack, which is what he's known for, extremely curated soundtracks.
This movie was made 20-30 years too late.
the weird facial CGI and de niro's old man movements made me question the first half, but the like last third was incredible and made up for everything else
Nah anon, Netflix movies always have that hard to describe, "ism" that's just gross...oh wait it's brainwashing and propaganda I was thinking of my fault.
Scorsese's crowning achievement despite the deaging detail. It's a movie that effectively closes the chapter on a generation and an entire genre. It's very moving, not least because instead of being maudlin the story is interspersed with hilarious scenes as well as blunt, matter of factly info about how and when the real life characters died, most of them murdered. It feels very honest.
The Irishman has a dignified approach to the passing of time and it is probably the last time a really stellar ensemble cast will work together in the history of cinema since the following generations of actors don't even come close to the level of Pesci, DeNiro, Keitel, Pacino etc.
Movie is too long. Has too many really fricking old people pretending to be young even for a Scorsese movie. Pesci playing a young man in Goodfellas and Casino was stupid 30 years ago and it's 3 times as jarring in the Irishman.
Don't get me wrong there's a lot to enjoy about the Irishman but it's really flawed.
Pesci, Deniro, and Keitel are good, but Pacino is an absolute clown.
>Pacino is an absolute clown.
He's acting in the movie is great and tongue in cheek. He played it in a clownish way based on perceived power and braggadocio, and his (mostly improvised) scenes with Stephen Graham are wonderful, there are vids in yt explained how he let Graham go on and act on his instincts. Example: Pro's attack on Hoffa in prison was improvised, Pacino's reactions are real.
this is such a shit movie. watching geriatric old dudes that shit themselves uncontrollably acting all tough... boomer movies, the psycho grandpas. this should be the name of this shitty movie. 3/10.
The book (whose rights DeNiro originally bought) seems to be full of unverifiable, outlandish claims. The movie's about much more. Hoffa's assassination itself becomes not a political fact but a terrible existential mistake for the main character.
The deaging was too shit. It was hard to tell what time period they were supposed to be in besides when they're all in the jail at the end. Deniro looked the same the entire fricking movie. Fricking 55 year old "kid". What a joke. Now who the frick was paquin supposed to be?
Again, pay attention: if you focus on the deaging, you miss the point. It was a very peripheral aspect of the movie.
Ironically, it has a meta aspect in that it makes the point that there's no such thing as deaging actors-- the attempt highlights the opposite, and this is attuned to one of the movie's themes, the passing of time. >It was hard to tell what time period they were supposed to be in besides when they're all in the jail at the end.
Essentially, you seem to have missed major points of the story. Go back to it in a few years. Paquin's was his daughter, this was blatantly obvious throughout the movie.
Might be Scorsese's best work, definitely his most mature.
You might be a fricking idiot

Lack of counterargument means you're triggered or desperate for yous or both. Either way you're a gay

whats the difference between "extremely curated" and "well chosen"?
The movie had that cheap Netflix feeling the entire time and everything to do with the de aging was terrible
agree with all of that except pesci was incredible in this film
You're late
Am I beneath you?
Go ahead, tell them what you told me while you were eating your ice cream like some fricking king
You makin a point posting like that? This is how you post on a blue board?
Well I posted it, so whadya want?
The last third was depressing
the last truly great movie
Killers of the Flower Moon will be the last thing I'm waiting for after better call saul ends
the weird facial CGI and de niro's old man movements made me question the first half, but the like last third was incredible and made up for everything else
Terrible movie.
wrong
Nah anon, Netflix movies always have that hard to describe, "ism" that's just gross...oh wait it's brainwashing and propaganda I was thinking of my fault.
The Irishman has nothing to do w Netflix shitty standards because Scorsese had complete creative freedom.
>"mafia bad"
>brainwashing and propaganda
The Mafia are a proud American institution
italian and irish
I don't think of the irishman as a netflix movie, I think of it as a Scorsese movie that used netflix in order to get made

Unironically KINO.
does anyone have the image that tells you how to break it up into a miniseries? i can't be arsed to sit down for a 4 hour movie
>vines
look at grandpa over here
a forgotten disappointment
I enjoyed it. Will probably make my friends rewatch it.
AT A TIME THAT WE NEED UNITY
WE NEED SOLIDARITY
I WANNA WRITE IN THE SKY
SOLIDARITY, SOLIDARITY, SOLIDARITY
Good movie. Perfect movie to watch on Christmas Eve cause it's fricking long
>walks in house
>sees nothing
>lets get outta here
>okay you first
>*pow*
>OOOH!
wow real riveting stuff here
This movie sucks.
Lol watch a 70 year old man beat people up lol
Lol
>Here's that kid i was telling you about
Beautiful, heartbreaking
If you ignore the cg/green screen and runtime, it's Scorsese's best mob movie
this is such a shit movie. watching geriatric old dudes that shit themselves uncontrollably acting all tough... boomer movies, the psycho grandpas. this should be the name of this shitty movie. 3/10.
generic shitty muh maffia story. yawn.
zoomers need to be put to rest
I assume some of those who were confounded by the movie will eventually understand its greatness a few years down the road.
heres the kid i was telling you about
its just so boring no need for it to be so long, i dont get why series and movies still do this
What would you cut from it? If anything, it was too short. There should have been much more Harvey Keitel scenes for instance.
Book is better
The book (whose rights DeNiro originally bought) seems to be full of unverifiable, outlandish claims. The movie's about much more. Hoffa's assassination itself becomes not a political fact but a terrible existential mistake for the main character.
Who the frick was Anna paquin supposed to be?
Zoom zooms, pay attention!

boomp
Why not run away from a knife and a gun? Charging a guy with a gun sounds like suicide.
It was moronic. This movie felt cheap and try hard like it was trying but failing at forcing itself to be iconic
This felt like Scorsese unfiltered, which is a good thing or bad thing depending on your taste.
It has very sincere undertones, as in let's go one step beyond the genre and talk about life itself.
It could be made into a good movie with proper editing and a 2 hour runtime. As is it's a mess.
