Ok, whats exactly the plot of this? Who are the characters and what can we expect out of them if we are giving them minutes of time to do something? I'm not asking for much, just write a paragraph for each important character, the plot and more episode plots (this is a pilot after all).
I'm all for supporting indie stuff but this is so fricking vague, just "ANIME" "ANIME" "ANIME" over and over again.
I mean, they have the game to showcase all the characters already. I don't think there's much of an audience of people that want to back this but have never heard of the game it's based on.
But I haven't heard of or played the game, this is my very first time seeing these characters. They've failed to make an impression to people who had no idea they existed until now.
Like I said, would it make sense to try and reach out to people unaware of the source material to help fund an adaption of it?
Absolutely. Like I said, if you know your characters you shouldn't have a problem writing a short paragraph about each of them and the kind of misadventures they go on. You're not going to turn off anyone who would've donated to your campaign anyway. At the rate they're going, it might be the deciding factor if they reach their goal

If you're running a crowdfunding campaign, you need to spoonfeed people who are learning that you exist for the first time. You are pitching it to the public and if the campaign as a whole is so poorly thought out anyway, why should I give you money? This was one of the worst animation campaigns I've ever seen and for that they're not getting a cent from me.

Maybe the original is different. I played the re-up version and it was just non-stop men are creeps, male teachers are all pedos and everyone is awful. Edge has to cut. It has to hurt. And you can't be edgy if you're regurgitating nihilistic shit that a lot of people already agree with. At that point you're not slaughtering sacred cows, which is the point of being edgy, you're just preaching to the choir.
Also. Yeah, the main character can do some messed up shit. She can be an abusive girlfriend, she can sell drugs, she break-up romantic relationships. But none of it really means shit because she's surrounded by people who are worse. Pedo teachers, white nationalists and other drug dealers. Hell, even the lesbian she dates and abuses and be just as abusive. The game markets Nicole as a sociopath. But you never feel like you're trapped in the body of an awful person. You feel like you're trapped in a world that's petty and cruel and yet unwilling to do or say anything that would upset twitter. Like the game makes fun of white nationalists. But so does everybody who isn't a white nationalist. It's not edgy it's just the popular opinion. Also, suicide is easy points for shock value.
Re-up isn't too different, just Nicole is softer and not as much of a b***h compared to re-up.

This is one of the worst crowdfunding campaigns I've ever seen mostly covered by yet it's at 16k with people claiming short voice message rewards.

There's so much better content out there to fund, that have clear explanations of what you're gonna get out of it. This is just "bitchy anime girls" that people will fund because it makes their pee pees hard.
Additionally, to make matters worse, it doesn't go into detail about where the money is going towards.
They just say they're going to pay people who have been in the industry, but who exactly?
For projects like this, a pie chart denoting where the money is going is a necessity. What about background artists, voice actors, storyboards and animatics, music, post production, taxes, etc? They don't explain WHY they need 35k for their pilot, it's just a number that arbitrarily exists.
I thought the crowdfunding campaign I'm developing was underwhelming, but this takes the cake.
Regardless, this campaign will end up raising more than mine and most other indie campaigns because "anime" boobies. At least it's a blueprint for everyone to avoid these mistakes.

They have the fanbase backing them, which the majority of people don't have and most people who try to achive this fail. That along with anime boobs are the only reason it's successful, and they'd raise even more if they went into detail about what exactly they're doing.
But to be fair, they probably have no idea what they're doing, and I'll stick around when the drama unfolds and people demand their money back in the years to come.

The voice calls with the characters are actually a great idea, but they're way too expensive and way too short.
