It's an abortion
It looks gorgeous, has hot girls and some god-tier action - can be worth a watch just don't expect Last Airbender-tier writing and characters
korras design is the best in all of avatar. her character isnt as bad as people say, its just really bad. the core-team is unlikeable. didn´t care for love triangle bullshit that didn´t even go anywhere, didn´t care for the mechanic-rich-girl, didn´t care about the surprise-lesbian shit.
the most charming character is a sidecharacter used for comic relief, who also overstays his welcome if i remember correctly.
3/4 arcs are forgetable/garbage/forgetable garbage. the only kino arc is with the bald anarchist dude and his posse, wich is the third i think. the first arc is eh, the second is the biggest pile of bullshit i´ve seen since then and the last arc was promising but ended in a big whiff.
It's a bad
But I want cream kora
I think im this opionion for all standard when this
The villians villians are undevelopers and woult have been better to have one one one one villane the hole time not four
Support cast is weak and gay
Very small soul in the show despite book 2 being spirit all of (still woersey book lol
All in all, I would still want to still put inside Korra's tight pussy and hug her while breasts play kiss asami can watch (then join)
I don't get this opinion at all, especially because they pretty much mirror the original cast. You've got be some sort of extreme snowflake to think this cast is unlikable.
they had some good concepts but occupied the main characters with angst and love triangles. Tenzin was too old to be liked, Korra too angry and self righteous. Bolin and Mako had 0 interesting scenes beyond season 1. The whole arc with Rava and anti Rava was really boring, the avatar origin story was kino, but also didn't add much.
While metal bending is cool, there isn't much you can do with it and the AoT police were stormtrooper tier. The last season is genuinely not worth the time to watch it.
tl;dr, the best thing LoK added was another chapter of 4 elements trainer
It’s kino, and I’m not afraid to say otherwise. Builds the universe from ATLA in a natural way. Both in technology of the universe and in the ability of the benders. Presents more adult topics than ATLA. Korra is a solid character, with a completely unique arc and problems/strengths compared to Aang. Where Aang was unsure and initially unwilling of his role as the Avatar, Korra is head strong and too self certain leading to her own failures and triumphs
Where it really shines is the villains. Amon, Kuvira, and Zaheer all have justifiable motives, sympathetic back stories, and unique personalities/goals. This is exceptionally rare in a kids show, yet Korra villains are some of the best in modern fiction, especially compared to similar genres (cartoons and cape shit). Especially Zaheer. Contrast this to ATLA where the fire lord was just a generic Saturday cartoon bad guy.
Where the show suffers:
- Korra teen romance drama
- no arc or character approaches the quality of Zuko and Iroh
- more serious tone, less whimsical kino exploration
My closest media comparison would be that ATLA is banjo kazooie, a timeless classic that still holds up. While Korra is Banjo Tooie, builds on it in every way but is duller and not as whimsical/magical as the first, but still worthwhile to do as a fan. If ATLA is a 10 then Korra is a 7-8. The second season absolutely blows tho you’re warned
You forgot to add that most of the side characters are REALLY, REALLY boring. If it had just been the Korra and Tenzin it would've been much better and helped to give the show a cast identity that sets it apart from ATLA
not having a writing staff really damaged the quality, but not as much as being initially told they were only getting one season, then two, then four. no one could make a good show under those conditions.
I agree, hence why I said most. If I could rewrite the show I would've had the main characters be Korra, Tenzin, Bolin, and Varrick, and that's only if Bolin wasn't such a pathetic whiny loser and more of a Clark Kent type.
Yea, I’d also remove Korras dyke heel turn which was clearly just to placate the tumblr crowd. Foreshadow Kuvira a bit earlier. Maybe make her a secondary character throughout the series who gets tired of Korras failings and decides to take things into her own hands to make the final season more impactful. And take season 2 back to the drawing board. Also kill off Mako because the show clearly didn’t know what to do with him
Mako/Bolin could have worked they just never really did anything past season 1
Mako never had a personality beyond being a sullen husbandu bait for the Twilight fanbase, so once they finally gave up on the romance sub'plot' he was a piece of wood.
And Bolin never got any development or moments to be competent like Sokka did, he was a pure comic relief buffoon.
Bolin got to learn lava bending and had arc of his own though, and his comedy moments were genuinely a highlight of the series
Agree on Mako though. He was a clear secondary protagonist insert in season 1 and supposed to be the male lead of the show and did nothing with him that you forget he’s even a character later on.
The love triangle stuff is fine IMO because the show rises above it and Korra realizes she has to work on herself first. Until they take the tumblr bait and force two characters to be lesbians despite zero hints until that final season

>Bolin got to learn lava bending
'Learn' is a stretch, he just acquires it as a new superpower like all the other bending types added in Korra.
The lack of training episodes was one of the worst parts
>Until they take the tumblr bait and force two characters to be lesbians despite zero hints until that final season
It was a shitpost, people who weren't there when the show was airing don't realize how big the Korrasami meme was in the community at the time. Bryke were constantly reading tumblr/reddit threads and throwing in hints to frick with people.
I'd add Sokka as the bridge between series.
Have him as the Uncle Iroh type as a foil to Tenzin, and make it appear he's a bumbling has been who drives Tenzin insane, until the pivotal moment where he reveals he's still got it.
Agree for the most part. TLoK was a victim of cancel/hate mob of late 00s to mid 10s. Bieber, Prequels, Twilight, Nickelback etc. People would start to unreasonably hate something and pretend it's the worst thing ever, and it would snowball to such an extent that it was impossible to stop the hate bandwagon and change anyone's opinion.
No.
If you liked any detail about Avatar that was unique to the setting, Korra finds a way to frick it up.
It also takes pains to frick up pretty much every TLA character that isn't Katara, and even that was probably just by accident.
>incredible animation vastly superior to ATLA >beautiful music on par w the ost of ATLA https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lDdIKnk5mVg&pp=ygUZbG9zdCBteSBoZWFydCBpbiByZXBpYmxpYw%3D%3D >fineass waifus abound >consistently disappointing storylines which always begin with loads of creative potential but instead always find new & unique ways to squander it >consistently dogshit characters who are either haphazardly developed (bolin, tenzin, asami) or, it seems, purposefully developed to be some of the most unlikeable, unpleasant, unrelatable fictional buttholes you'll ever experience (korra, mako)
tldr: all style, no substance, & what little substance is presented is hostile, alienating girlboss shit
>hostile, alienating girlboss shit
Shit like this makes me think people criticizing the show either didn't watch it or are very stupid and don't understand the terms they use. Korra is legit moron, like an actual sub 90 IQ femGrug, and she's a complete frick up. The farthest thing from a Mary Sue or a girlboss. She's relatively strong, but that's because she underwent proper avatar training and spent her entire childhood preparing for the role, and wasn't some self-taught country bumpkin.
>but that's because she underwent proper avatar training and spent her entire childhood preparing for the role
Did you watch the show? Her characterization begins with her being a toddler loudmouth knowitall with an adult mastery of the elements beyond anything seen in TLA. I'm not even going to wade into the shitshow of debating the definitions of "girlboss" or "marysue" but she behaves like a jackass, is praised for it and is a prodigy with no effort to boot. Call it whatever you want. I call it obnoxious shit writing.
Yea most miss that Korra was supposed to be a foil of Aang, and that her initial confidence wasn’t because she was capable but was actually over confident. Then she gets broken down and rebuilt into someone more balanced (entire theme of the series was that villains weren’t wrong they just took it too far and balance was key)
Aang was hide in iceberg because he didn’t want to become avatar but eventually accepts this responsibility. Korra was gung ho ‘im the avatar and you gotta deal with it’ before eating humble pie and realizing she has a lot to learn. It’s brilliant character parallels between the two and allowed them to be similar yet go on completely different heroes journeys
As the other dude said it just got sucked in with the Reddit tier hate on shit trend and brainless like the ones in this thread mistook her as a Mary Sue when it was never the case
I only watched the first episode but I felt it's better than the original. Better characters, visuals and action. The original avatar is the most overrated mid show ever.
What’s funny is during its live run it had zero cultural impact. The show got poor to average ratings. Despite being “adult” it didn’t reach across to other fanbases that well. And almost no one really cared or talked about it during its run.
Meanwhile shows like SoongeBob, Adventure Time, and DBZ had much much much more crossover appeal and cultural impact.
ATLA has a ton of stupid kid shit in it. Zukos arc though is legitimately one of the best in any piece of modern entertainment
>How does this show compare to Avatar?
Nooohooo, nooooo. No. Just, no.
Honestly just take it on it's own and it's still just a bad show that has some really good animation, like a really fricking bad show that has some really good animation, but at least you're not comparing it to Avatar in that case.
>Wow Amon is so awesome I can't wait to see how his story turns out >oh >Wow this spirit stuff is cool I wonder what's happening here >oh >Wow this team of crazy benders is so badass I wonder what their deal is >oh >Wow Kuvira seems interesting maybe we'll finally get a good villain >oh
Bryke are so fricking bad at writing endings. This is what happens when 'idea guys' are put in charge. Tons of cool shit with 0 idea how to write an actual story around them.
Disagree and dumb post. Amon was never going to have a great in-universe answer to his powers. At the time people legit thought he was Aang lol. Him revealed to be a fraud also parallels the stand in for communism that he represented where those wanting equality just want power. Him being a blood bender made sense and his death was kids show kino
Zaheers mission made sense in that universe, killing earth queen was bad ass, as was his attempt to kill the avatar. Per usual with the show though villain wins until avatar state just wrecks everything. Him not dying but serving as a guide to Korra in the next season also a good nod to his complexities as a villain
Kuvira just reclaiming lost earth kingdom territory and rising to the power vacuum created by Zaheer. She wasn’t as charismatic or fun as the red lotus but a good take at opposite side of same coin
I’m not an anime gay so can’t comment there. But name another show or series with a similar audience that did villains as well as Korra. It’s literally the biggest highlight of the show
>also parallels the stand in for communism
Damn why didn't we just throw Stalin out of a window and then everyone immediately forgets that inequality exists overnight?
>I’m not an anime gay so can’t comment there. But name another show or series with a similar audience that did villains as well as Korra. It’s literally the biggest highlight of the show
This much was obvious, nobody defends Korra unless it's the only show they've ever watched
Season 3 is the only good season, and that's because Korra is absent for a good chunk of it and the rest of the cast get out of the godawful city setting.
The villains were also quite good too, iirc.
It starts well but the second season is senseless and the fourth season turns to woke pandering rather than a proper conclusion to the story
It suffers a lot from a lack of a greater all encompassing theme and narrative like TLA had, being way too episodic and broken.
The secondary characters are mostly weak and sometimes even forgotten, and Korra is annoying as frick, but some of the villains and storylines are based.
Oh boy.
Based and E;Rpilled.

no. it's soulless. Korra is unlikable, it feels like a teen drama. the last season the show runners were literally using Tumblr for story arcs
the one positive is the music was fantastic

Every single main character is unlikeable, its actually kind of impressive how much they make you dislike the main cast.
I don't get this opinion at all, especially because they pretty much mirror the original cast. You've got be some sort of extreme snowflake to think this cast is unlikable.
I want to dismiss this as bait, but I'm also morbidly curious as to how you'd back that dumb shit up.
Back up what?
>especially because they pretty much mirror the original cast.
You're not wrong, their character development is certainly mirrored
it's not as good but the network absolutely shafted the creators and are most of the reason why.
i turned it off forever during the first episode when she said im the avatar you gotta deal with it. never looked back
Same

A hand full of good ideas that are clumsily done, dumped into a mess of other dumb ideas, and then kneecapped by poor planning. probably just skip it
Don't watch it. Don't learn anything about it. Just remember your happy memories of last airbender as a kid and leave it at that, really.
Good artstyle and animation, good music utterly wasted on cw tier writing
Korra is an annoying c**t.
However it's worth watching for the episodes in season 2 that explains the origin of bending and the avatar, as well as season 3 which was pure kino

>Contrast this to ATLA where the fire lord was just a generic Saturday cartoon bad guy.
Azula, Zuko, and Zhao were hardly Generic Cartoon Bad guys.
And even then I've never seen a single person anywhere who says the "Dark avatar" was as good a villain as the Fire Lord.

Spirit world is just so lame, man. Seasons 1 and 3 with based antagonists are pretty good before some port.
It's terrible in its own right, but it also tries to retcon ATLA to replace it with its own new lore, which is awful.
Not only would I not recommend it, I would suggest you actively avoid it. Its existence damages the legacy of a far superior show.
