This, after a while you realize that the flaws can often be what make a character work and if you develop it all away they stop working. Probably why comedies have so many dumb characters, you can't exactly do away with that explicitly so it's just very reliable if cliche.
Not convincing, at least in its entirety; While it is true that virtues and defects highlight the character, pigeonholing oneself into a single element runs the risk of a flanderized stagnation until it becomes a deteriorating nonsense for the character.
The problem hasn't been that she is funny, but how they have carried her out (writing-execution and ill-advised directions) to almost be a 'joker/jigsaw' in those episodes as the seasons went by.
Previous threads have dealt with her and these episodes, so it is surprising that her topic is not new.

True, but she has put her family through physical and mental torment every April Fools (like unleashing a gaze of raccoons on Lincoln, making Lana fall into rhubarb pie which she is allergic to, having their house float down the river, to name a few).
My thought process would be for Luan to face a dark reflection of herself; someone who loves playing practical jokes on other people, but cares nothing about the feelings and well-being of the people being pranked on, only caring about the next big joke... something Luan is sometimes guilty of.

I think this will always be my favorite image from the series. There's just something so quietly nice about it. Everyone is together, having fun, just a nice simple little picture. I always love the official art that's like this.

I was in this fandom for almost 2 years, the very 2 first years that the show started airing, and I got to say that /TLHG/ was something that I've yet to see replicated. The amount of freedom, autism and yet creativity that spawned from /trash/ was huge.
While things got quieter around the summer of 2017, maybe even earlier, the general was still a huge thing. I can still remember how artists would randomly take the shittiest requests known to man and create great pictures. I loved all the internal jokes and the huge cultural diversity.
And I say all of this because it doesn't feel like that 2016 was 8 years ago. It still feels kind of fresh, I can still remember how they would fight with /sug/ and other furry threads. I wonder if there was ever something like that in the past of this site. It all felt so reddity, tumbler-like and yet it was rancid, autistic and fun. Cinemaphile fun at least.

Alright so this requires some wider context. Around the same time the booru went down, the abomination side of the fandom were having their own drama. A certain artist was exposed for having multiple troll accounts on the abomination booru for the purpose of harassing other artists. Shortly after that revelation, the abomination booru got taken down and the loud booru went immediately after. Given the odd timing, I can't help but feel someone in the abomination fandom may have had something to do with it. Again take this with a huge grain of salt since there's no evidence to back this up, but the timing given the circumstances is extremely weird and suspect.
Something else that's interesting. If you try and put the abomination booru in the wayback, you'll find it's been excluded. If you try the loud booru, you can still access it.

Sick of people being prudes and censoring art, just full out establish a fricking generational tree of incest and bastards that would make the Hapsburg grimace through their mutated jaws or make art of Lola gassing israelites or some shit. Add in the fact that it was 2016, which was the year the conservative vs liberal / virgin vs chad / trad vs thot shit really started to come to a head, and this show was latched on as a sort of "Trad" thing making it even more popular.
Also the anti-SU stuff, was a smart defensive maneuver by the fanbase in order to weed out subverters and people who just wanted to steer discussion into more SU shit (paid turner broadcasting shils most likely) like how SUgays took over SvTFOE's generals.

Being confined to /trash/ gave us a sense of freedom that no other show's fandom at the time had. Creativity of any kind was encouraged, you could create whatever content you wanted. It could be something tame or the most fricked up shit imaginable and it would still be accepted by everyone. Contrast that with other fandoms that heavily restricted what content could and couldn't be made.

Production on Season 2 was halted for 7 months per the wiki. We are now at the 10 month mark since Season 2's initial production pause. That's almost a year.
Now consider how significant a year is in terms of the age of most of the actors. Lily was played by a literal toddler, 10 months is plenty of time to develop enough speech and mobility for it not to fit. For the younger sisters 10 months could be the difference between a growth spurt, for Lincoln's actor 10 months could mean the difference between a high voice and a teenage ball dropping voice, and some of the older sisters their actors could've turned 18 and that means they would need a new contract.
So imagine that they're planning season 3 and oops the twins had a growth spurt, gotta recast. Oops Lily can talk in complete sentences now and is bigger, gotta recast. Oops Lincoln's balls dropped, gotta recast. Oops Luna turned 18, now we have to give her a new contract since she's not a minor anymore. Oops Lucy grew, gotta get her a bigger dress and wig. Oops Lynn grew, gotta get her a bigger costume.
Now think of the network, it's reeling from the mergers and the strike and now TRLH needs a boatload of money to recast and get new costumes. S8 of the cartoon is needed to set up TSC, another movie on the way.
TRLH sticks out like a sore thumb and for me it's a no brainer, sometimes you gotta cut off a finger to save the hand.
