Color
>makes printed versions of the comic much more expensive (Printing 1 page of color is roughly 10x more expensive than 1 page of black and white)
>slows the comic creation process down.
>slows the release schedule down (1 month for 22 pages vs 20 pages a week in a black and white comic)
>often takes away attention from the linework and composition
>gatekeeps indie creators who can't afford a colorist and have little knowledge of color theory
We need to get rid of color.

i don't need arguments when you're fricking moronic.
>HURR DUR COLOR IS BAD BECAUSE....... IT JUST IS OKAY!!!!!!!!!!
Just bring back flat colors with maybe one midtone. Think toodd mcfarlanes spider man or early spawn. (Originals obviously). Problem solved. Black and white is degenerate.
Black and white is outselling us 100 to 1. Let go of the past. We must evolve.
The last bullet point is a good thing but also color is the cheapest part of the process.
I do think monthly ongoings should ditch color and premium paper to drop the price back down to below 3 dollars.
Doesn’t improve price point
The place for color is trade paper backs with glossy paper being sold as a premium product as opposed to monthly comics being treated like collectors items when they aren’t.
i completely agree. black and white should be standard. thats not to say i dont think theres room for coloured comics though, just that itd be beneficial were it not the expectation
>complains about american comics
>thinks the linework will get better without colour
lol, lmao
shut the frick up

>comics are bad because they are not coming out faster
Fandoms don't develop around them in the same way they develop around weekly releases.
>comics are bad because the fandom is not large enough
>often takes away attention from the linework and composition
this, compare lineart to finished product in most mainstream comics, inking is sometimes to blame but coloring is the true culprit
Smart man
That is not the main problem with American comics.
There are way bigger problems than that with western comics, and I don't even necessarily disagree with B&W having more upside than color sometimes.
printed versions of the comic much more expensive (Printing 1 page of color is roughly 10x more expensive than 1 page of black and white)
This is not even remotely close to being true.
the comic creation process down.
Not by much.
the release schedule down (1 month for 22 pages vs 20 pages a week in a black and white comic)
Not really. Manga is released faster because it has like 10 uncredited artists working on each issue for 10+ hours a day.
takes away attention from the linework and composition
This is nonsense.
indie creators who can't afford a colorist and have little knowledge of color theory
This is just plain false.
You almost seem to be deliberately trying to sabotaging American comics by intentionally giving bad advice.
>This is not even remotely close to being true.
Proof?
>Not by much.
"Much" is the difference between monthly and bi-weekly.
>Not really. Manga is released faster because it has like 10 uncredited artists working on each issue for 10+ hours a day.
And American comics don't? #comicsbrokeme
>This is nonsense.
Agree to disagree
>This is just plain false.
How?
>You almost seem to be deliberately trying to sabotaging American comics
They have been sabotaging themselves for the past decade without my intervention.
>And American comics don't? #comicsbrokeme
they don't. Every artist is credited, and there's not just one guy to make backgrounds or draw incremental details. No, having an inker and colorist isn't the same thing, and the roles separating an inker and penciller are getting more reduced as a lot of pencillers just submit final linework
>Proof?
you're the one who asserted the claim without evidence
You pay more for a floppy than a tankobon. You get around 200 pages in a tankoban, you get around 20 pages in a floppy.
That’s untrue tonkobans cost 9-15 dollars, ongoing floppies are 4-5 and much larger dimensions.
Also tonkobans are secondary releases of already successful comics.
you havent offered any useful refutation
Kinda agree. Bad colouring can ruin a comic immedietely.
Use pastels
