I saw it earlier tonight. Haven't talked about it online much, because I hate adding to the negativity around current MCU. I know that a lot of people refuse to accept anything after "muh Tony" and don't even watch the content, they just act like it's all 0/10 garbage. And often, it's related to racism or sexism. Which is why I don't want to give them any more ammo than they already got in 2023.
To me it has some good aspects to it, but is overall a messy film. Feels kind of like the theatrical Justice League, where you can feel where things got stripped away or awkwardly changed. It's not as bad in that regard, but there are issues like inconsistent tone and a little bit of forced drama that annoyed me. And the stingers... they're things that would work if the MCU was firing on all cylinders, but it's not and I kind of cringed, honestly. I did like this better than Quantumania and Thor 4, which I consider 5/10 mediocre films, but there's too many issues for me to say it's good. So to me, it's a 6/10 just OK.
I think the main draw was Kamala's charm, but Monica was also pretty cool. Not only is she peak thiccness, I felt like her acting was the best of the 3. The unique part of this movie is how frantic the action is, because the characters are switching randomly mid-fight. But, I know it'll be implausible for a lot of viewers. Kamala would've been dead almost immediately without the thickest plot armor imaginable. I'm lenient with the "it's just a movie" type stuff, but I know other people will make 3-hour videos about every little plothole they can think of, and I don't care. Not worth getting called an MCU fanboy or whatever.
