>be ennis >really hate capeshit >have the opportunity to write comic book shitting capeshit >it's a huge success >so big that they actually want to turn it into a show >show turns the source material into capeshit >lean back and kick up my feet because i got paid big bucks and don't care about what they are doing
>Mocks "Girls get it done" from the Avengers >Then proceeds to do the same moment unironically >Every climactic moment is a supe vs supe fight with laser beams and other bullshit >Starlight gets a DBZ power up scene
The Boys is not the satire of capeshit, it's actual capeshit.
Seeing normies trying to convince themselves that it's "satire", but otherwise acting 100% like they would have if it was done unironically (which ti was) was so weird.
It has unironic capeshit fights now. If Ennis wrote the third season finale both Soldier Boy and Maeve would die in a very unceremoniously way and Homelander wouldn't even be there because he'd be too busy crying about Stilwell and being pathetic little shit instead of the ebin alt-right mastermind they're trying to sell him as.
>the Boys aren't on V >MUH WOIFE'S SON
How did they manage to frick everything up?
Yeah, I hate being able to post images on an imageboard. They should just remove images entirely
>be ennis >really hate capeshit
Where the frick did you get that from?
>Where the frick did you get that from?
The horses mouth?
>This show really makes us question our fandom of superheroes — if they existed in the real world and were, well, a**holes. Are there certain heroes you modeled The Seven after on the show?
>Well, I don’t like any of them. You can pick your favorite and watch me denigrate them. The thing is, due to a quirk of distribution and growing up in Northern Ireland in the ’70s and ’80s, I never really saw American superhero comics. Not often enough or for long enough that I was able to really get into them. I grew up on British comics until I was well into my teens. I was reading material very, very different from what you see in the American superhero tradition. I think coming to them as, pretty much, an adult, I responded to them the way adults did in those days, which is, “This makes no sense. This is ridiculous. This is silly.” That’s where the suspicion and disdain arose.
I liked it at first, I guess I still do but it turning into ammunition for the culture war is a bit off putting. I'd rather something that's detached from all that so I guess my enjoyment of it has decreased
>I still do but it turning into ammunition for the culture war is a bit off putting.
Thats literally what the comic is, nothing but commentary on celebrity culture and Garth Ennis wank fest on the American/British military and how they're the real heroes in every war and story.
>I liked it at first, I guess I still do but it turning into ammunition for the culture war is a bit off putting
Jews are writing and producing it, so I don't know what you expected. They turned the new Knuckles show into pro-Israel/Holocaust propaganda and it is about Sonic characters
every 'edgy and ANYONE can die at ANY time' show hits a crossroad where they have to decide if theyre actually gonna keep the stakes or not
this show hit it last season and went for the safe route so its just kind of slop now
The problem I have with the show is that it nerfed the boys. On the flipped side it made the Seven more interesting. They should have left butchers wife unchanged from the comics and black noir as the homelander counter /contingency instead of homelanders kid. It would have made the story less convoluted.
They're trying to stretch it out and milk it for all it's worth.
Season 2 should have ended with Butcher snapping the kid's neck and somehow pinning it on Stormfront. Shock the hell out of the normies ala Game of Thrones and put Butcher on the villain path he's on in the comics.
Homelander is meant to be terrifying but we've seen tons of people get away with defying him at this point. They bring in new people for him to frick up(the suicidal girl, the blind superhero) but it doesn't land because we know the main characters are safe.
Soldier Boy being hyped up as the one chance at beating Homelander and then everyone backstabbing him for not being a nice person was my final straw.
homelander will win.

>the comic is, nothing but commentary on celebrity culture
What? Where?
Basically every page? Supes maintaining their squeaky clean public image and living the most degenerate sex, drugs and violence lifestyle imaginable?

Pretty sure Rogen and the rest of his tribe know exactly how bad it is and just rub it in for kicks, to spite everyone
It was better than the comics in the first season at least then it became fricking lame
