The most kino space battle in history

For all of the movie's flaws, the third act of Return of the Jedi cannot be beat.

It was very kino, I replayed it so many times. And I'm very surprised they didn't use the B-wing and Y-wing all that much in the ST.

The B-wing is too kino, maybe even cooler looking than the X-wing

        b wing is absolutely kino

Fun fact: There's a lot of unused footage of B-Wing and A-wing pilots for RotJ, but the rounded dome made it really hard to use because of the way it reflected light and blue screen shenanigans or something.

is the B-wing a Christian spaceship?

Rian Johnson wanted to invent his own slow-ass bomber that made no sense instead of the B-Wing.

I agree, even though it is almost 40 years old it is the finest space battle scene I can think of. I think part of the kino of this space battle is that there are three layers of spatial depth and size/scale - the battle between the fighters and star destroyers, the Death Star, and Endor in the background. The half-finished Death Star both looks intimidating and vulnerable, with the much huger bulk of Endor behind it. There is a real sense of 3D motion, with a lot of plunging and diving sort of movement.

Absolutely. The first act of ROTJ is dumb and contrived but Leia’s bikini makes up for it. The third act of ROTJ is some of the finest cinema

Only the Throne Room is high kino and a worthy successor to Empire's duel.
The capital ships in RotJ might as well not be there.

Correct. the Battle of Endor expertly cuts between three different aspects of the same battle (Luke/Surface/Space), giving the collective energy of the Good Guys.

Lucas is a god of satisfying artistic conclusions.

Every one of his movies ends perfectly. Even THX and AG.

I always though the space battle over Endor was pretty shit honestly. What exactly is the appeal? You have a bunch of big ships doing nothing while the least convincing convincing work in the OT plays out with the fighters buzzing around. The tunnel run inside the under construction Death Star was cool, but the battle itself I just don't see it.

Very based, probably blew the entire CGI budget for the season on this one battle sequence though.

RotS opening was the single best 'big ass space battle' sequence in all scifi.

The first one is Battlestar not Stargate, but I agree. To be honest, Battlestar's CGI is almost unmatched by any sci-fi show to this day, it's extremely impressive how well it's aged compared to Stargate's stuff.
