the mutant community could use a hero like static tbh

think about it:
> mutant who almost immediately decides to be a hero on their own means rather than join Xavier’s scouting camp
> immediately loves these powers
> does good for the society around them no matter what
> just generally optimistic in general, with no caveat meant to crush her spirits
> oh, and also a good, wall-rounded family to boot

get my drift?

Static is DC, not Marvel. Meta-humans don't have the same issues that Mutants have.

i meant a mutant hero with the same attitude and beliefs as static tbf

This just proves Miles should’ve been an electric mutant. All of Miles problems are solved if he doesn’t have Peter’s powers but does his best to mimic them anyway because he refuses to let the flame that is Spider-Man die out

He should have been mildly spidery and mostly electric, so his name could be Spiderbolt.

There's an Electric Blue Tarantula and some Spiders can use E-magnetism with their silk to glide, they should have just named him Tarantula and had him basically be Spider-Man Unlimited Spidey with gliding instead of webs.

nah; the core essence of spider-man is suffering for great responsibilities’ sake

this character probably won’t have to suffer for that sake, especially not to a degree akin to peter Parker himself

Kamala is similar I suppose. she only recently became a mutant though

ye but i'd like to see someone make a new mutant hero without all the baggage of previous years an' stuff

especially in the "100% mutant" and "solo hero" camp; i don't think there are any mutants who've refused xavier's call that aren't also villains afaik

Bang Babies faced similar discrimination, not nearly to the same level, but the bones are there.

That's because most of them are criminals.

A lot of that overlapped with a degree of racial and class discrimination, since in addition to the freaky powers most of the initial wave of Bang Babies were the victims of exposure to a mutagen mixed in with tear gas being deployed at a gang war, meaning a lot of gangbangers, homeless and unstable teens were mutating all over the place with only Static to really do anything about it.

Not only the concept but the execution was better written than x-men, even if it had hammy anti racism message, but it was better than X-men tokenism

i checked them out; kamala was initially an inhuman; and justice and Firestar kinda had their hopes dashed by the plot

That other anon is right, the X-men don't operate as superheroes like the heroes DC do. They're more celebrities with powers. Static would stand out heavily among their angst, navelgazing and drama.

      pretty much, ye

i'm honestly surprised how several mutants happen to be self-loathing individuals who also happen to be self-absorbed
(it's kinduva shame, rly; they should at least have a friend to coax them into being a hero at least)

That applies to all Marvel "Heroes."
The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. are government militarized tasks forces and police teams, they're not superheroes.

on another note, it’s kinda weird they don’t have any “mutant treatment centers” like in that one static shock episode either: https://youtu.be/it7GNp59tIM?si=zjwN9iev0C6MKo7n (3:17)

They've had several. On the Avengers. During Busiek's run on the Avenger's Firestar had excellent public reception among the citizenry. Justice was seen as a good and a dork. But that was because he was being a pud. Not because he was a mutant. Beast was constantly getting ladies digits when he was an avenger. Any mutant is almost always at least tolerated to liked when they're not on the X-men.

ngl all this really does make you realize how much flack mutantkind receives is usually at the fault of their "head-in-the-sand" leaders

        Anonymous

seriously the x-men are basically the propagators of their own misfortune.

          Anonymous

To be fair, that’s because inspite of the public perception of the Avengers being public stooges, they’re one of the few superhero groups willing to not only stand under constant scrutiny but also hold themselves publicly accountable for their actions as well as weather the PR storm from people that feel pissed at them for whatever reason that week. The X-men very understandably don’t want to deal with the ultra biased media circus, especially the incarnations that have kids in their care that need a stronger level of protection from supervillains and shit, but considering we have multiple superhero teams of “public approved” mutants, one has to wonder if the X-men’s mission wouldn’t be a bit easier if they were more open about themselves and their intentions from the start.

It kinda sucks Static never had a successful run after the show finished and rarely shows up now due to the issues with who even fricking OWNS him and his rights

Always found it funny they went "just add him into the DCAU no one will be agasint it"
