There is some small microcosm of potential for IPs as of yet, so that generates the rostergay autism that smash survives on.

Aside from Avatar (which the creators requested not show up in crossover stuff until the show ended to preserve canon), Danny was the most straightforward action cartoon on the network at the time. So it makes sense he's paired up with Spongebob, they represent the two biggest aspects of the network at the time, adventure and comedy.

I'm guessing it's a combination of Cinemaphile being a much faster board and Cinemaphile having more of a general interest in cartoons and by extension Nick.
With games like these, it's a lot more likely someone from Cinemaphile will be like "Aw sweet, I'm gonna vote for my precious character Blippo Gunko from a show that aired for one season in 2008" than it is for Cinemaphile, who probably don't know Nicktoons beyond the 90s, Spongebob and Zim.
