        >Angel Heart is kinda similar
‘Dark Angel’ the novel on which ‘Angel Heart is based, had the whole plot centered in NY City.
For dome reason, the movie switched significant sections of the plot to New Orleans, despite filming some scenes in and around NY City, do I doubt the issue was budgetary.

Yes, both Johnny and Amber are Illuminati. Tons of photos of them doing the one-eye sign. That whole trial was a distraction, also look into Johnny Depp's link to Damien Echols of the West Memphis 3 and where that leads.

I watched this last week. Very comfy, really great aesthetic, Depp is sexy af. Plot is a little hokey but who gives a frick. I cringed everytime people would smoke or do other dumb shit right next to this priceless book though, I don't know if that was a conscious decision or not, but the characters really did not practice appropriate rare/old book handling techniques.

This was my biggest issue with the movie. Nobody who preserves invaluable works of literature would allow people to smoke near them. Secondly these heathens were handling the pages with their bare fingers and getting oils and dirt all over them. Where's the fricking gloves? The demon chick's breasts were nice though.

I used to go to antique and specialty book dealers with my parents when I was a kid, and antique dealers as well, and at least a quarter to a third of the dealers smoked like fricking chimneys.
Modern handling and conservation practices have gotten better over the years, but with certain collections and archivists, you still get a certain laissez-faire attitude.
Add in the fact that a lot of antique dealers, including book dealers are not overly wealthy, the facilities they work out of art sometimes not great.
Bauman Rare books(as referenced on Pawn Stars) is sort of an exception, since it was started by an old couple who collected books and presumably had money before they started a rare book dealership.
Incidentally, Bauman at one point bought a bunch of rare books stolen from the University of Pennsylvania library including a 1611 copy of ‘Hamlet’.
Usually the poorer dealers who have worked their way up in the business would have known to check anything like this that came in against known copies.(and then turn the books back over for purchase cost plus a slight commission from the insurance company)
