I suspect that many of the people interested in the movie are also have stopped going to the theater at all. The streaming viewership was disproportionately high despite a $20.00+ price and more people watched it on VOD compared to movies that did better in theaters.
I know it's not a reliable metric but it's come back on projectfreetvs trending and been moving up the list this past week or so, so lots of people have been watching it lately.

Made on a much lower budget compared to The Northman and was a modest success. It’s not like it did gangbusters numbers.

It wasn't in theaters in my country. And I still can't find the DVD.
That means your country isn't worth the investment of opening up theatres for TNM not that it wasn't an internationally publicised movie.
For a Viking revenge story, it probably came off as too high concept. People didn’t know what they were getting into. So bad marketing.
