My unfair generalization is that when anime is good it can be really really good, but when it's bad it's really really bad.
So while a lot of my all-time favorite series are anime, the style of series that I like seems to be fewer and farther between these days. Whereas a lot of western cartoons I've watched recently might not blow me away, but they're still decent enough (and not as much of a time-sink) that I can enjoy them for what they are more easily.

Idk I am not a big fan of comedy so 99% of all new western cartoons are really boring to me. Stuff like primal is an exception.

When it comes to western cartoons after a series of disapointments I haven't been able to get myself to try any new series recently.
Same, I've just been getting into mostly French stuff.
Older I get the more I don't care about both and watch things people would find boring like history videos on failed companies, old tech or whatever stuff in that vain.
Eastern animation is idealistic, and western animation is realistic.
I started recently watching children anime like Nobody's boy reimi and tbh it's better than both cartoons and regular anime. This shit is both entertaining, relaxing and well written. If I find more good children animu I might stop watching western cartoons for a while.

I'm feeling that way, but with Comics. Been perusing so many 50s - 60s comics and it's been a blast.
I'd also recommend old Franco-Belgian comics too, those are a blast to read.
