My grandma made me watch Zombie Island when I was like 5 and for the next 12 years or so I had a crippling fear of all zombie media. Terrified. Couldn't buy zombie games or watch zombie movies without horrifying nightmares. Then my sister said zombies might be able to be real when I was 15 and I spent a whole summer praying and hiding that a secret zombie disease didn't exist.

Based grandma, also how did you come out of that movie still scared of zombies when they were the good guys all along?

I remember really liking Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost when they were in CN but they never saw Alien Invaders or Cyber Chase there so I haven't seen them.

Cyber Chase is garbage and only becomes decent when they meet themselves.

Boo Brothers and Ghoul School were pure kino. What was even the deal with Boo Brothers anyways? Did they have their own show or something? It always felt like a crossover to me but idr anything else associated with them.

      >trips
Cyber Chase is certainly a massive step down compared to Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost and Alien Invaders. Mainly because of the premise and the lack of good catchy songs.
Ghoul School is definite kino, I agree, and the yearly halloween threads that get made for the revival idea are a treat.

      >No Hunch Bunch mention

Reluctant Werewolf is my personal favorite. I love the idea of a big race with classic monsters.
Plus the vampire chick was cute.

Skip Cyber Chase. It's already past the point where the animation budget dried up.

Cyber chase wasn't as good as the other three animation wise, but still was made in the heart of the other 3. Every film that came after cyber chase never hit that film quality high. Just felt like Disney sequel home video quality.

The post Cyber Chase movies were drawing much more from the writing and art style of Whats New Scooby Doo and that's where the difference lies.

The animation budget didn't dry up, it's just the point when they made the jump to digital and they spent the next 10 years figuring out how to make it not look cheap.

I can see why you might think that based on the covers, but the last time I rewatched Zombie Island I remember liking how few lines Scooby had. Like, I get that he's the mascot of the series, and "talking dog" is his schtick, but I've always felt it best used in moderation. One of the things I didn't like about Mystery Incorporated was how much Scooby talked. It felt like they were trying to serious the franchise up, which could work if you used the serious to contrast with the zany and make it feel even zany-er, but instead the zany stuff just undercut any seriousness, making the whole series fall flat for me.

Camp Scare is a legitimately good movie. It's number 3 after Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost. It has a great setting, likeable new characters, intriguing story, and meme worth fan service. Also, the Woodsman first scene is easily one of the greatest monster introductions in Scooby-Doo history!

Considering how great Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost were, and even how enjoyable Alien Invaders could be.

How the FRICK is Cyber Chase so fricking lame? Even as a kid I never really found it that fun to watch, and really wished when it came on CN they would play Witch's Ghost or Zombie Island instead

It's worse because the creative team behind the first three was forced by executives to use some random writer they had under contract. Said writer had never seen Scooby-Doo, hence the half-assed "mystery" that was added when the others pointed out Scooby-Doo is about solving mysteries and he had none. They were stuck with him on Legend of the Vampire too, at which they all quit and the What's New team came in and agreed to whatever he said. He wrote Loch Ness Monster and one episode of What's New (the one with the evil Mystery Machine) then fricked off to work as an exec for Square Enix of all things.
So yeah, that winning streak we had with those first three movies? Actively sabotaged by Warner Bros.. And just in case there was any doubt, they also forced a different writer in Witch's Ghost, but the main team was able to rewrite it, and they added the real Sarah Ravencroft at the end. It was originally just gonna end with the fake one.

        >Said writer had never seen Scooby-Doo
How does one reach adulthood let alone become a writer for cartoons and never see Scooby-Doo? Even the concept isn’t that hard to grasp and it gets parodied endlessly

Batman vs Dracula is kino, probably the best content related to that specific iteration of Batman. Legend of the Vampire was just okay, I just remember the giant vampire reveal that reminds of Chernabog from Fantasia.
