The only thing the film succeeded in was making the original show far more popular and appreciated compared to how bad the film was.

Honestly yes, it made Toriyama want to come out of retirement to prove they could do better. same case with the Millenium Godzilla series.

no there's been a significant uptick in stuff after the movie. Chip and Dale themselves had pretty regular and successful threads for about two months and we got the Chip is Sally's dad thing out of it.

Yes, there's many factors for this, count YouTube views for related videos by the thousands, the official Blu-ray release of the originals and all the talk here.

        >had pretty regular and successful threads
Not sure how to measure how successful a thread can be, but the were a lot of people replying at the beginning and lasted for longer than expected.

Kind of like how Lola's flat chest for Space Jam 2 created a bunch of new fanart, many of which gave her bigger breasts than she had in the first movie. And then it turned out she had breasts when she was 3D. Bravo WB. Bravo.

The only thing the movie accomplished was squandering a shitload of money and preventing several serious ideas for a reboot from getting made. We know of at least 4 times that animators pitched a Rescue Rangers reboot, always getting shot down because something else was in the works. And what was in the works? A movie that didn't want anything to do with the original property.

Ten years it's been in development hell, and the result was a movie that landed with a whimper and totally failed to get viewed. The damn Kim Possible live action movie managed to get more attention.

RR sacrificed itself to save the other TVA shows from this reboot fate.
All it shows is how disconnected Disney is from their consumer base. It did poorly in streaming because all the actual fans noped out when the trailer dropped and made a mockery of the original, and it never reached any other target audience because it was simply bad and it doesn't have the coonsoomer fanbase of something like Star Wars to prop it up regardless.
At least four actual RR reboot pitches and this is what they end up with. Disney is failing hard for a reason

Are you implying the RR movie is just some sickfrick's twisted way of publicity in the midst of D's obvious decadence?.
So they are aiming for failproof profits in future releases.

      >Don't count on it, despite how depraved and meta the movie was.
      >It was all done at the expense of hurting and disgusting a lot of people.
      >These tactics cannot suck more.

In 2007 the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie came out. In 2011 we got The Smurfs. In 2012 Variety reported initial talent scouting for a Rescue Rangers movie. 2014 saw Disney pick up a specific pitch from a guy that did some well-received commercials and popular Road Runner live action spoof. His idea was a straightforward reboot showing the characters meeting and having their first adventure. By 2019 he was out, replaced by the Lonely Island crew who wanted a "meta" movie. That's an awful lot of time and money to just flush a project down the drain handing it to some sitcom writers that made it abundantly clear they weren't interested in the property as anything but a vehicle for meta-commentary about... I dunno. The shittiness of Hollywood?

It's 2022. Having any old series that just plays it straight is unimaginable. Everyone must be a meta commentary or something or another.

Why though?. Batman is older and recently watched the latest movie, pretty much the same thing with some modern takes like drugs.

Did you watch the RR movie? This wasn't even "politics." It was just references stringing along a bland plot about Hollywood being shitty to the people it makes famous (yeah no shit). This was people wanting to make something meta because they were allergic to sincerity, not because they wanted to "educate." We've got more than one problem going on right now.

The guys that made Ducktales 2017 tried to some "educating" but as flawed as their project was, it was a sincere effort at doing something with the old IP. This was NOT a sincere effort. This flipped off anyone that hit "play" hoping for a sincere effort.
