This show was unironically great, I'd go as far as to say it's better than any of the Madagascar films. It had very likable characters, great humor, fun spy stuff, a lot of creative sci-fi, and pretty good cgi animation. I'd even go as far as to say that it's the best Nicktoon that premiered post-Avatar. It also had a decently long run with about 150 11-minute episodes. I’m surprised and saddened that the show is not talked about more. So below I will give instructions on how to watch every episode of it for pretty cheap!
The show has 3 seasons. Seasons 1 and 3 are both available in their entirety on Paramount Plus and can be watched there with a subscription. (here: https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/the-penguins-of-madagascar/ ) Unfortunately Season 2 is missing from Paramount Plus, and is not available for streaming anywhere in general. So Season 2 needs to be bought off Amazon Prime for $12.99 (here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B00GFIVGNQ/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s2 ).
Note that four episodes of Amazon Prime’s Season 2 are all mislabeled as other episodes (so there appears to be some duplicates although in reality there are none). But Amazon’s Season 2 is still complete, so combined with Paramount’s also complete Seasons 1 and 3 you will get to watch the entire show this way. Amazon’s Season 1 is also complete (despite six of its episodes also being mislabeled in the same way) if you also prefer owning that season on Amazon Prime instead of getting Paramount Plus. However, Amazon’s Season 3 is unfortunately incomplete and only contains 7 of its 15 episodes, so the other 8 episodes of Season 3 will have to be watched on Paramount Plus.

I also made a list of the mislabeled episodes on Amazon in case anybody finds this useful (Every episode not listed here is correctly labeled to my knowledge):
Season 1:
Episode 3: The actual episodes “Operation: Plush and Cover / Happy King Julien Day” are mislabeled as “The Lost Treasure of the Golden Squirrel” (the later episode is in Season 2).
Episode 5: The actual episodes “Penguiner Takes All / Two Feet High and Rising” are mislabeled as “Command Crisis / Truth Ache” (the later episodes are later in Season 1).
Episode 13: The actual episodes “Misfortune Cookie / Monkey Love” are mislabeled as “Paternal Egg-Stinct / Assault and Batteries” (the later episodes are earlier in Season 1)
Episode 16: The actual episodes “What Goes Around / Mask of the Raccoon” are mislabeled as “Can't Touch This / Hard Boiled Eggy” (the later episodes are in Season 2).
Episode 18: The actual episodes “I Was a Penguin Zombie / Sting Operation” are mislabeled as “Operation: Good Deed / When the Chips are Down” (the later episodes are in Season 2).
Episode 26: The actual episodes “All King, No Kingdom / Untouchable” are mislabeled as “Nuts to You / The Terror of Madagascar” (the later episodes are in Season 3).
Season 2:
Episode 9: The actual episodes “Stop Bugging Me / Field Tripped” are mislabeled as “Whispers and Coups / Brush with Danger (the later episodes are later in Season 2).
Episode 12: The actual episodes “Night and Dazed / The Big Squeeze” are mislabeled as “Nighty Night Ninja / Siege the Day” (the later episodes are later in Season 2).
Episode 30: The actual episodes “Gut Instinct / I Know Why the Caged Bird Goes Insane” are mislabeled as “Right Hand Man / Brain Drain” (the later episodes are earlier in Season 2).
Episode 32: The actual episode “Operation: Antarctica” is mislabeled as “Best Laid Plaintains / P.E.L.T” (the later episodes are in Season 3)
The Madagascar Penguins TV Show was a pile of dogshit worse than the Penguins movie.
It suffers from the same main problem Helluva Boss has; everyone is turned into an incompetent moron for the sake of comedy and action and competence is left in the background. It promotes dogshit humour for rednecks, degenerates, morons, dumb people who enjoy laughing at other dumb people to feel better about themselves and relate to.
It's a pile of fricking dogshit that's an insult to the original Penguins scenes from all 3 Madagascar movies and absolute horseshit compared to the Christmas Caper special.
If the Penguins movie was the Cats Vs Dogs movie then the Penguins TV Show is the lamer version of Seinfeld. Only loser morons laugh at this shit to feel better about themselves.
If you homosexuals want a quality action-comedy spy TV Show then you watch Secret Files of the Spy Dogs. The characters there are actual badasses without pretending to be and yelling "look how badass we are" like Korra.
you must be fun at parties
He's a hit at all the bar mitzvas.
But anyway, don't engage, report, hide.
>everyone is turned into an incompetent moron for the sake of comedy and action and competence is left in the background. It promotes dogshit humour
I didn't notice any of this in the show, could you please give examples?
How is Amazon so incompetent that they mislabeled epiaodes on seasons 1/2 and forgot some from Season 3? And why doesn't Paramount have season 2?
they do this shit for more popular shows like Paw Patrol.
The people at Amazon can't just check that they have every episode and that their titles are correct?
Nickelodeon itself was also incompetent with handling the show.

After the show was cancelled in 2013, you think Nickelodeon would have done the decent thing and quickly air the final episodes on their channel so that fans could enjoy them, right?
Wrong. They held 5 episodes until 2015 and then dumped them on Nicktoons network. It's so insanely disrespectful to the fans, especially since the show was pretty popular.
Also I wonder why nick cancelled the show and stopped airing it in 2012? Wasn't it pretty popular? And I don't think it's because of the dreamworks contract ending, because Monsters Vs Aliens started after Penguins was cancelled.
Oh interesting, In Poland it still airs on Nickolodeon.
Oh dang that's super cool. I wonder if they aired every episode there
Yes they did! All thankfully are also well preserved as they were aired on many stations
If Monster vs. Aliens was considered a replacement for Penguins, that might be the biggest downgrade of all time lol
>Monsters Vs. Aliens
Damn i haven't seen that in many years. I liked it a lot when i was like 9, but I probably wouldn't like it anymore because from what I remember, the show was heavily focused on comedy and Bob more than anything else, which I would probably find unfunny and annoying now. Also, the characters weren't very interesting from what I remember, and the animation is pretty darn bad. Also, I specifically remember the previews being garbage and annoying, as they purely focused on Bob. The show only had one season due to the dreamworks contract ending lol. I may watch a couple episodes on Paramount Plus for nostalgia sake
I think the consensus on the Nickelodeon dreamworks shows is:
Penguins of Madagascar: Good
Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness: Meh
Monsters Vs. Aliens: Bad
Of course each one was worse than the last lol. Also why the frick was the cgi in Monsters Vs. Aliens so bad?! It looked fine in the other two shows!
>why the frick was the cgi in Monsters Vs. Aliens so bad?!
Maybe the budget was cut by a lot? If it had the same budget as the other two shows than it looking so bad is just baffling.
Has anybody here watched the Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness show?
Yes, cheaply animated and every episode had at least one moment of:
>"Lol I'm QUIRKY"
>characters staring silently at each other for 5 seconds
goddamn i fricking hated that show, which is strange because i thought the movie was pretty good
I did, it was alright. We used to have a few threads back when it was airing. All I remember though was anons preferring the animated backstories and wanting to frick tigres and the snake.
>Also why the frick was the cgi in Monsters Vs. Aliens so bad?! It looked fine in the other two shows!
It's like how Planet Sheen somehow looked worse than Jimmy Neutron despite coming out years later.
It is funny, I think both Penguins and Legends of Awesomeness they held onto some episodes and only aired them because a movie in the respective franchises came out
I'm not familiar with the Kung Fu Panda situation, but that doesn't add up for Penguins at all considering that the unaired episodes were finally aired way after the movie was out, and they premiered on Nicktoons with little promotion.
Same thing happened with other Nickelodeon shows. That network does not give a shit about the fans of shows. For example, Invader Zim was cancelled in 2002 with 6 episodes left to air, and took until 2006(!) for them to be aired on Nicktoons. Why doesn't Nickeledeon have the fricking decency to air the last episodes of shows normally, instead of dumping them to nicktoons years later? Just airing some already completed episodes takes no effort at all.
It astounds me how awful nickelodeon is at respecting its shows.
Dude, they didn't air several episodes of As Told by Ginger until they put the last of them on streaming, technically giving the show a 20 year broadcast history.
Why is Nickelodeon incapable of treating shows and their fans with respect?
Not the first or last time they did that
I use to watch it and wondered why they stopped airing it. Really with the penguins movie coming out then
It can’t be this fricking difficult for streaming services to host every episode of a 3 season show, can it?
Yeah it's really stupid that I had to write all of those instructions out. Due to the mislabeled episodes I initially think Amazon was missing some seasons 1/2 episodes before I discovered they were mislabeled
Anybody remember the hour long musical episode with Dr. Blowhole? The songs in that one were bangers
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1D4mHkpm4mc1y8we9m4QkFCJREzkmypz
I always turn on this show to fall asleep. I know it so well its soothing.
Every ep with Blowhole was so good I was dissapointed the movie wasnt about him,
this show a lone is good for the memes.
>SCIENCE WHY DID YOU BETRAY ME!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicktoons
Looking at this nicktoons list (in the screenshot they are sorted by amount of episodes), The Penguins of Madagascar & Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness actually are tied for the 8th most episodes of any nicktoon. Pretty cool. Although I do wish Penguins wasn't cancelled and got more episodes, it still did have a satisfying run outside of the fiasco with those last episodes not getting aired.
Wait, Penguins of Madagascar has 79 half-hour episodes (26 in season 1, 38 in season 2, 15 in season 3). Why is this saying 80 episodes?
>38 in season 2
Holy shit, why did Nickelodeon order so many episodes for just 1 season?
Obviously because Madagascar then was still fresh and they noticed how popuar the Penguins were, so they were confident in it it becoming a hit and using that time frame as much as possible.
WHich they were right about.
Then why did Nickelodeon almost completely stop airing reruns in 2012 and then cancelled the show?
What was there deal with Hoboken is it really that bad?
I think there's a feud between Hoboken and NYC
That running joke was hillarious, with it culminating with that Hoboken Zoo episode
Bump
What's the best episode?
>What's the best episode?
The all nighter before christmas
the hour long musical episode with Dr. Blowhole was my favorite as a kid.
>the hour long musical episode with Dr. Blowhole was my favorite
that was pretty good too
Honestly, the animation of The Penguins of Madagascar was the weakest part of the show. It looked pretty good for TV cgi, but it was pretty clearly limited and not stylized. The animal's fur did not look like fur. I think it should have been 2d animated.
Bump
Is the only legit way to get this show via digital, or was there some darksome limited physical release I'm going to spend way too much on acquiring?
https://nickelodeon.fandom.com/wiki/The_Penguins_of_Madagascar_videography
They had some dvds with a few episodes each, but I can't find anything coming close to full season dvds. So digital is the way to go (though again those 8 missing season 3 episodes can't even be bought digitally to my knowledge, you'd have to stream them on paramount).
what's everyone's favorite villain other than Dr Blowhole
Officer X was really funny
Kitka is a babe. Savio is my no 1 though.
I like to believe Private fricked his lunicorn more than Rico both fricked Ms. perk.
I'd just wait for it in a MEGA thread
what do you mean? This is basically a Penguins of Madagascar Megathread/general. What are you waiting for?
I meant just downloading the show in one of our regular MEGA links threads instead of trying to track the show down through multiple streaming services.
Here's a freebie: https://mega.nz/folder/lrRWxSBJ#V73nAyVtP57SqAfA1hodPg Episode titles even look right to me.
>instead of trying to track the show down through multiple streaming services.
I mean, the instructions given were simple and only involves two services (Paramount for Seasons 1 and 3, Amazon for Season 2)
it should not require more than one streaming service though
I mean, we would be able to just buy every episode on Amazon Prime if it wasn't missing 8 season 3 episodes, and likewise the entire show should be streaming on Paramount Plus if it wasn't missing season 2.
Fricking based. I came itt to call the shill OP out and post a torrent but you beat me to it.
How is op a shill?
>shill
Yeah, right. I'm sure he gets thousands to make a thread about a decade old show.
based on what?
What do you mean?
He orphaned the punchline to the "Based? Based on what?" Gag. I don't remember there being a Penguins iteration of it though.
Its a spinoff of the Madagascar movies, staring the best characters from those movies.
they were the only good thing about those movies
based
Tx
Weird seeing Penguins of Madagascar discussed here, but i agree this show was great.
why is it weird for a cartoon to be discussed on Cinemaphile ?
No i meant to say that its rare to see a penguins of madagascar threads.
True, it still is weird to me that the show isn't talked about much anymore. It's one of Nickelodeon longer running shows, it's generally agreed to be good (especially for that era of Nick), it was popular when it was airing, and it's based off of very popular animated movies.
>show isn't talked about much anymore
nothing controversial or anything to argue about and no shipping shit
>no shipping shit
Was Marlene ever shipped with anyone by fans?
Maybe with Skipper a little bit? Kitka and that hispanic otter only show up in one episode each.
Thinking back to it, Marlene and Alice the Zookeeper were like the only female characters that weren't one offs. Show had a really bad gender ratio lol
at the very least they were some of the most reoccurring characters.
the show was definitely hinting at something between Marlene and Skipper lol
Yeah Skipper and Marlene is like the only decent shipping I could think of from the show
The top three were Julien, Kowalski, and Skipper.
Julien canonically was the only one interested in Marlene romantically at various points but always kept getting shot down.
Kowalski was never canonically interested in her romantically, most likely because of Doris the Dolphin, but they had great popular interactions.
Skipper was only canonically interested in her romantically in her "Arlene" form but apparently always knew how to play the Spanish guitar which Marlene always preferred for her ideal partner that she never met represented in Antonio the Otter.
It comes from that weird early 2010's era of nick that was full of just bad cgi cartoons that got greenlit and cancelled left and right.
Penguins of Madagascar was actually good though, and actually had a decently long run.
This franchise is one of the biggest examples of "main cast sucks, side characters are fantastic" out there.
I still can't believe we went from Penguins and All Hail King Julien to that "baby versions of main cast" show.
is All Hail King Julian any good? I never tried watching it because i was bitter over it replacing Penguins
Absolutely, though a little different from Penguins as the episodes are full length and characters actually develop over time. They're both peak shows though so it's really just whichever format or cast you like more.
Interesting, I guess I'll give the King Julien show a chance. I didn't even know about the Madagascar Babies cartoon, what the hell? Why didn't they just make a show with the adult characters?
>is All Hail King Julian any good?
It was for a few seasons it started getting kind of stupid later on
I only know of it because one guy made videos describing all the insane shit that Mort does in that show
Mort is an all powerful god
I came here to say this, all penguins felt like one note grating characters, King Julien and etc were actually entertaining and fun to watch for me (at least when I was a kid)
That anon was saying that the main characters in the Madagascar films weren't great, but they were praising both the penguins and the lemurs.
meh.
Why do you find King Julian more interesting than the penguins?
I havent watched this show since I was like 9 so im pretty much going by old ass feelings so idk.
>Why do you find King Julian more interesting than the penguins?
Interesting isnt the word, I just remenber him being fun to watch and I liked when he fricked over the penguins ig, maybe I should rewatch some loose episodes to jog my memory.
I wonder why the show didn't include the main 4 from madagascar (outside of having Alex as a "spirit" in that one episode)? The show was already set in a different canon from the movies, there's no reason they couldn't have been included.
I am become Marlenegay
Private was in canon a brony (he was a hardcore fan of an MLP parody). What's crazy is that the first episode with the MLP parody was actually aired one day before MLP FiM premiered. So The Penguins of Madagascar predicted bronies.
The show went hard on that stuff. Tara Strong even voiced Princess Self-Respectra throughout, Private's Lunacorn toy, that ultimately gets inhabited by a demonic entity named Kuchikukan.
The episode where Blowhole is trying to melt the ice caps is amazing.
One of my favs.
RING OF FIRE
>Kowalski, intelligence.
>Above average. But I don't want to brag.
Yeah, both that and the musical Dr. Blowhole tv movie were two of the best ones.
I’d agree. The show was pretty hilarious. Movie wasn’t bad.
Movie was great, it was just weird that it was released after the show was cancelled
Watched the show 3 or 4 times in TV
Insanely good
bump bro has the tenacity of Mort trying to get some feets
Alex the Lion what are you doing in my Nickelodeon spinoff television show?
Did the makers have some kind of agenda against Hoboken?
I know it's not to be taken completely seriously, but all those dumps on Hoboken.
They present the city as a trash heap, call the zoo a dump, they call Hoboken Nightmare and Hades aka Hell...
Why being so hard on Hoboken?
Because it's funny lol, it makes sense as the show takes place in Manehatten and there's a bit of a New York/New Jersey feud.
They saw just how much of a true hell the place can be after what happened to Manfredi and Johnson
I wonder if some Hoboken residents got genuinely offended by the anti-Hoboken stuff lol
>murder bucket
>God is dead
What are you talking about?

>That death, like life, is a meaningless waltz danced by fools.
