>they're imperfect but still movies
This can be said about every shitty movie as well. Being a movie is the bare fricking minimum, that's not some great achievement.
This is so disingenuous. The prequels were way more than just those examples. Plus, they're made by the same guy so of course there'll be similarities.
Look, I saw ep 1 in the theater as an adult, having grown up on the Star Wars movies and toys. I'm telling you it sucked then and it still sucks now. It's good only in comparison to ep 2 which was somehow even worse. Ep 3 has a few okay moments but pretty much whenever anybody is talking it's a cringefest. People who say they like the prequels are either larping or morons with no taste.

You hated them because they were different from the OT. That's it. Y'all wanted the prequels to rehash the originals, rather than it do something different and have its own unique identity. It's typical nerd rage. Y'all hate change of any kind. Doesn't matter if the change is good, you lot hate it anyway.
Hating on the prequels is the most basic b***h nerd take there is. Just a bunch of autistic nerds raging about the most minuscule of things. Shit's pathetic.
>basic b***hes hate the prequels because they're so obviously shit >autistic nerds nitpicking hate it too
so everybody hates them? yeah sounds about right, they're dogshit movies.
probably, people will be nostalgic for damn near anything.
There is no core base of fan support for the ST. The amount of tie in stuff for the ST is absolutely paltry compared to the amount of OT and PT stuff that is still being made, and it's now been 10 years since TFA released. The PT could have a comeback because George deliberately made it for new fans and knew that a ton of OT purists wouldn't like it, but JJ abrams is one of those OT purists and as such made movies for his exact demographic only.
The prequels were bad films with poor writing and acting, but good world building and imagination. They're what happens when a hack still has big ideas and passion, but gets too powerful to be told "no, that's bad" by his minders.
The sequels are bad films with poor writing and acting, but are also creatively bankrupt and passionless in terms of visual design and world building and also maliciously de-constructive towards the themes and philosophy favoured by the original creator. They're half lazy corporate rehash and half mean-spirited desecration.
The sequels can't even reach the prequels level of badness and trying to imply that the the prequels are inferior is just rank contrarianism.
yeah, they were worse

They're pretty ass
episode 1 is my favorite star wars movie
It doesn't matter now. Nothing does.
Lucas is not capable of emoting himself so he has no ability to direct his actors to emote.

>Pod racing
>Jar Jar
>Darth Maul fighting 2 Jedi at once
>Senator Palpatine being an elusive phantom menace.
I dont understand the problem.

How did the consensus on these go from
>they're bad but I like them anyway for the worldbuilding
To
>they're actually good
zoomers are fricking desperate to be different from millenials
shitting on prequels is midwit tier
star wars 1-6 is cinema of the highest order
They were kino
T. 1999 zillenial
>the prequels werent nearly as bad as people say
True, but that doesn’t make them as good as revisionists say
And they aren't nearly as good as homosexual zoomers are begging everyone to believe.
>homosexual zoomers
I get it, you're a loser. Touch grass and maybe you'll improve as a person.

They are, it's just that nearly everything Star Wars related since they came out has been worse
at the very least Ep 1 is a not-terrible 90s summer action movie
I rewatched The Phantom Menace a few days ago and I can confirm it is indeed as bad as people say
>the prequels weren't nearly as bad as people say
Will something similar ever be said of the sequels?
probably, people will be nostalgic for damn near anything.

If the prequels are bad then the sequels are quite literally the worst films ever made.
Any 15 seconds of the prequels is more worth watching than anything Disney has made in this Millenium
The prequels are shit and always will be. Redlettermedia was right about everything.

Imagine outsourcing your opinions to a bunch of bitter failed filmmakers from Milwaukee. Fricking pathetic lol
