the shield

>Vic has the best arrest record and general results of any cop in the entire show
>Only achieves this via crossing the line
is the Shield arguing in favor of cops like Vic? It definitely implies that sometimes rules have to be broken to achieve whats right.

    The arrests were... wrongful?

legally speaking yes but the show doesnt make their crimes ambiguous it shows bad guys doing heinous crimes and then Vic doing whatever silly corrupt shit he needs to to get them arrested, I watched S5 ep yesterday and it was hilarious the mexican shooter guy takes off on this kid sized motorcycle and then drives a block just to steal another dudes car and take off while Vic comendeers a construction dudes truck and straight up drives straight into the mexicans car causing a huge crash on the side of the road

the arrests were technically wrongful, but they were still the right thing to do because the perps were criminals regardless

the point is the vic mackey was on the ground and knew the best way to uphold the law, and police the city far far better than some ivory tower nerd lawyers who actually wrote the law

this is what the shows message genuinely seems like, even him going for the gun at the end of the show is a heroic scene, one of the worst thing he did turn on Ronnie was a genuine back against the wall decision that Vic felt horrible for

Vic is not a villian mate. He is a hero. And a legend. And the best character ever displayed in film or tv

It doesn't spoonfeed you any answer, something foreign to today's media that touches on politics.

post a crazy story for us anons

During the riots in 92, him and hispanic cops wouls drive at night in normal cars shooting night rioters with rubber bullets, tear gas and those flash bangs from the back of the car around in pitch black. He also said that the official death count of the riots at 63 was probably like 200 to 300 people just took advantage and it wasnt counted. He also worked security for bands at the time. Guns and roses, hip hop, janes addiction, nirvana when they came. Said he got invited to a guns and roses party but declined. During the satanic panic he said that there was killings done by actually satanists but it would just be written up as a homicidal stabbing, like a womans heart being cut out would just be a random homicide nothing apecial

he regularly catches pedophiles, breaks child sex rings, gets murderers at the same rate as Dutch, even finishes Dutch's cases sometimes, even if he buffers his stats he still gets a significant comparative amount

im rewatching the series as we speak up to S5 so far and I truly dont think the show demonstrates that at all, the one thing in 5 seasons Vic did that was a true crime was kill Terry, everything else helped him solve bigger crimes and put worse people in jail

There's no moment where Vic truly victimizes anyone
The fact that he's an evil motherfricker and he somehow consistently finds people way worse than himself to manipulate and brutalize really makes him come off as heroic
If they wanted him to be morally questionable they'd have to insert a plot point where he fricks over someone totally sympathetic and innocent like Walter White with Brock

    you're overthinking it
most of the show is just vic relying on plot armour and digging himself a little more deeper

dutch and claudette are pretty effective while still being moral, always felt it was implied that dutch was going to end up being another billings
