The show is cute and all but I genuinely cannot fathom how people can find the characters attractive.

Most likely a personality thing with the parent characters. Women like men who'd make for a good father. On a physical level, though? These characters are very deliberately designed to just be... well, squares.

All people who aren't me are the same. They aren't really people. They're just talking cardboard cutouts. I'm the only real person. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be me.

Nail on the head. It's definitely a cope surrogate activity but I will never have a family so I watch the funny dog family that doesn't have problems.

For adults with kids it’s a nice break from other kid shows like. Cocomelon or mickeymkuse clubhouse. If you’re a parent less adult I guess it’s to pass the time since they’re depressed.

It models positive non-hostile family relationships which many people actually are not accustomed to and as adults take as a really cool special effect. Some people never learned what it looks like or feels for everyone to be nice, or at least civil

it's almost surreal watching it. it makes me sad almost. it really shows me what the difference is between my upbringing and the upbringing of someone who grows up to be healthy

It’s the feeling you get when you meet a true friend or go on a really nice date. ‘What the frick, this person isn’t angry, isn’t trying to be sarcastic, they’re agreeable even when we’re disagreeing, and they’re acting like I’m not a frick up, and somehow I’m doing the same too, what is going on’. It’s surprising how often you don’t get that out of life

It has very mature and deep writing, you'd know if you gave it a try. This so called slop as you say is far better than any other modern cartoon.

It shows positive family interactions well. Don’t get ahead of yourself, it’s not some untouched trove of groundbreaking writing, the writers are just decent family people with knowledge of child development

Corruption drives a lot of it. Saccharine, inoffensive world with no dire conflicts so people start fantasizing about what it'd be like if someone with no respect for that entered and forced their dirty minded whims on the characters and how they'd take it.

    ...

    Frick, I turned myself on.

It's cute but I don't like the lack of sexual differences. I don't want massive boobs or lipstick, but simple eyelashes or smaller frame would be nice

Coco is the only character I can come close to finding attractive, probably because she has eyelashes, more shape to her body than other characters and fur that can pass for hair.
