    >MUH 9 PERFECT SEASONARINOS

It was consistently good up until around 2014, then it became a real crap shoot. Sometimes the new ones are so terrible, I swear I'll never watch the show again, but some of them are still funny, it's just that they're not memorable and probably not worth rewatching.

If it's funny, then the plot isn't really that important. The bad ones are either loaded with songs or it's just terrible jokes.

I remember watching the "300th episode" (actually the 302nd episode but hyped up by Fox as the 300th because it had the big guest star) when I was like 9 and immediately realizing my older brother, who had quit watching a year or two before after the internet had told him it was bad, was right all along.

2007ish before season 20, but it wasn't good for a while, i watched it with my parents up until early highschool occasionally. Before finally thinking it was too shit even to watch with family, and my parents agreed.
I remember being young and watching that fake skinner episode, and my parents being confused at why they would make such a terrible episode.

I grew up watching the Simpsons. when I was a kid I had a banner that had Bart on it . It had 'what the hell, man!' written on it My grandma took a pencil and drew a k in so it said 'what the helk'
Anyways, I stopped watching when adult swim started gaining more traction. Edgy shows where on the rise and started to bring competition. Simpsons used to be one of a kind, but soon as other shows like it started coming out, and they started trimming down on the writers is when I stopped watching. think around season 10ish

Believe me, since I stopped watching it regularly I check in every year to see if it's any better, and it's unwatchable now. You've saved yourself.

Not trying to be part of the echo chamber, but they’re not even worth checking out out of curiosity. They’re awful. The plots are moronic and the characters are flat, and all the characters personalities interchange. It makes so sense and just isn’t the Simpsons anymore. You could overlay any other cartoon family models over the Simpsons and it wouldn’t change anything.

I'm a Zoomer who was raised by a pair of Gen-X parents who religiously watched the series until the Bart becomes a feminist episode.
Personally, I think the show is kino up until S9E2, but there are some gems after that up until the movie/animation change. It almost entirely goes to unwatchable bilge afterwards.

I remember I stopped watching new episodes around season 10 for the most part. My folks got divorced and watching new episodes was always me and my dad’s thing. isnt that an early(/ish) halloween special?

        Anonymous

No, there's a Halloween episode where there's an evil Bart twin in the attic (the one where Dr. Hibbert punches him through the picture frame).
But there's also a regular episode where Bart and a doppelganger rich kid switch lives; the real Bart quickly grows tired of his rich life (also his half-siblings try and murder him to get more inheritance money) while the fake Bart quite enjoys living with a poorer yet more loving family.

The episode "Tennis the Menace" with the William sisters. I just remember the ending has Lisa agreeing there was no point or moral lesson and they just sat down apathetically and that was the moment it seemed the Simpsons were past their prime and no more good episodes would come out like the older seasons. It would be years before even returning to the show.

I was too young to watch the original run so I watched them out of order throughout my childhood during the early 2000s without knowing what was new or old, and I think I continued watching actual new episodes until around the time of the movie or just after. It had been shit for a while but I went on with it out of habit and positive association for a few years before giving up entirely.

With the benefit of hindsight and adult perspective, I rarely if ever watch anything past s8. There are a few decent episodes after that but the quality drop even from 8 to 9 is noticeable.

Saw a clip from the latest season of the show.
All the voice acting sounds wrong. The voice actors are now too old. Both Julie Kavner and Harry Shearer sounds like they got one foot in the grave

The weird thing about Marge is that she is still written as a youngish woman but she literally sounds like Grandma Bouvier from the classic era. It makes the scenes simply bizarre to watch.

      Anonymous

It's somewhat ironic that Shearer has become too old to be able to properly voice decrepit centenarian Mr Burns.
Kavner is just utterly dire as Marge now, I get that the cast are in ironclad contracts but can't they just politely ask her to stick to Patty, Selma and their mother and get a soundalike as Marge? I bet there's dozens of perfect impressionists that Fox could pay peanuts to do it.

My local tv channel plays 6 episodes of simpsons twice a day. I usually catch about 3 episodes. The first 15 seasons are an easy watch. After season 20, i set a 5 minute timer at the beginning of an episode. If it fails to make me laugh until the timer ends, I get up and do something else. So I guess that's my answer - after 5 minutes
