Fellow kinoseur, what is it tied with?

        Scream.
I'd say TCM is the "objectively" better movie but Scream is the comfier and more fun one, both great slashers that I've rewatched more than anything else.

crazy how the early 70s produced so many iconic masterpieces

Quietest I've ever been while watching a movie. Except for going "Damn.." when dude gets the meat tenderizer to the face in the beginning.

I think TCM is slept on by mainstream audiences (obviously among horror buffs it's beloved) because people just assume it's another slasher, I don't think anything since has come close to portraying such a claustrophobic, oppressive atmosphere. Wastes no time setting the mood either, even the opening scene with the hitchhiker is iconic.

Yeah, the atmosphere in TCM feels like a nightmare.

The only movie deserving of the title overrated. A glorified B-movie by horror buffs aka pseuds because its old.

      >TCM is slept on by mainstream audiences
Its slept on because its hot garbage.
      >claustrophobic, oppressive atmosphere
You mean bad camera, annoying music, poor pruduction and terrible story? Yeah ok.

      >I don't think anything since has come close to portraying such a claustrophobic, oppressive atmosphere.
Yeah, the atmosphere in TCM feels like a nightmare.

      >atmosphere
Kek. Really. Jfc. You "Horror buffs" are worse than art critics who think a giant sculpture of a vegana is "thought provoking" .

        >because its old.
Sorry zoom zoom, but a lot of people actually enjoy movies made before 2010. I know it's incomprehensible to you.

          Invasion of the Body Snatchers
          The Exorcist
          Black Christmas
          Jaws
          Alien
its honestly baffling how tcmhomosexuals have even the nerve to lump up their b-movie garbage with this great films.

TCM is better than all of those movies.

Yes, in my opinion it's Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then right behind it Barry Lyndon as the greatest films of all time, I know there's a hell of a difference between those two but that's how I see it.

Chop top's introduction and the Leatherface jumpscare after are unironically really well done and a surprisingly tense part in a mostly comedic movie

I love Chop Top's little moments of seriousness when he's being wacky like when he slaps the lamp out of her hand for shining it in his face or when he's like "I know what you're thinking this is weird but I can handle it".

I wouldn't disagree, it's a genuine kino that transcends the medium
