Settle down loser. I don't care about what the kids are into one way or the other, it's just always been sad and pathetic whenever out of touch old people get frustrated at the next generation. It was lame when I was a kid, it's lame now, and it was lame as far back as the roman empire where we actually have records of older people complaining about younger people. Like were you under the impression that the slang you used or the style you liked was always going to be in fashion for the rest of time or something? It's fine to age, but it's just pathetic and embarrassing to be so nakedly insecure about it. There's no version of this where you win and what you like becomes hip and cool again- that's not how time works. So what you need to do- and I mean this literally, not in the meme way people use the term here- is COPE. You seriously need to cope, because you're embarrassing yourself.

Except the current generation isn't into watching shit either. And just because something is old doesn't mean it's dated. We all listen to music/tv/books/movies that are old. Sometimes (tv/movies) decades old; sometimes (music) hundreds of years old; sometimes (books) thousands.

Yeah, sure there are classics that stand the test of time, but those are the exceptions, not the rule. We're not all walking around in bell bottoms or tri corner hats. The most popular horror story isn't The Telltale Heart. Styles constantly change with the times. And you can sit here and be mad about it and sound like a pathetic loser who's just sad life has passed him by, or you can just like the things you like and just understand you're no longer in the age group setting the tone for what's most popular in the culture any more. It's fine. Every single person that's ever been alive has had to deal with it if they lived long enough

The clothes and the hair styles that were in fashion are all considered dated now, and sometimes people make fun of them on the internet for how dated they look. I'm not mad the things that were popular when I was in my teens and early 20s have gone out of style, I still like what I like, and I don't spend all my time crying about it online like I'm in therapy

Not him but it's true. The youth are always worse than the last generation, if times are getting worse then the youth are clueless uncultured subhumans (now), if times haven't changed it's because they're stirring up shit for no reason (typical) and if things are getting better, it's because the youth are
Also, the writings of the upper class city queers about rebellious youth have little to do with the reality of those times. Everyone today is like that, but the vast majority of the population in the past lived in villages where everyone lived and died exactly like their parents did, unless they died to plague or war or famine which rolled through every few generations.
Teenage rebellion is a disease and not the usual state of society

This is in the top 10 most cliched thoughts anyone has ever had- the idea that the next generation is UNIQUELY bad to the point of being dangerous. No, it just means that as they age a certain portion of every generation goes through an existential crisis and has a difficult time coming to terms with no longer being young any more, so they get angry and lash out at new things and styles and culture that's different from the things they're used to. It's not EVERY person in every generation, but it is EVERY generation. Some people just handle it better than others. In the end everybody has to learn to deal with it one way or another, it's just that certain people have a harder time

                Absolutely wrong
There was a period of time where the older generation told the younger generation not to move to the cities and factories for work, and they were right, because humanity will gas itself with CO2 within the next century because the factory owners shaped society to their will without challenge

The reason youth culture seems so uniquely terrifying and dangerous is for the same reason it always has: because it's new. It's very easy to look back at any point in history and laugh at how silly the older generation looks at the things they were freaked out by that the kids were doing. In my parent's generation men having long hair and wearing tight pants was considered a very real threat to western society by my grandparent's generation. It seems ridiculous now, because it's old. New things are always frightening, especially as people age. The older people get, the more they tend to want to surround themselves with what's familiar, and thus every generation always thinks the one coming up next is the most dangerous/reckless/awful/etc generation to ever walk the earth

Not everybody in every generation is stupid, there have always been stupid people born every year. The things older people were deathly afraid of and legitimately thought were leading to the end of civilization now seem trivial though, because they're no longer new and scary. This isn't unique to just that particular era or the styles and fashions of the time, but rather it's been a consistent complaint every generation has had going back millennia. So you missed the point. It's not that an entire generation was stupid or cool, or whatever, it's that this fear and resentment of the youth by the aging generation is a human constant. Again, not with every single person, but definitely constant throughout every generation

Genetically, every generation has the same intelligence and it's been that way for millennia. That doesn't mean that culture / art doesn't ebb and flow. We had pretty crap art during the Middle Ages. I mean it wasn't all crap but for like 1000 years it was crap from what was before and after.
That can be true for individual decades as well.

(cont) and art WAS crap during the Middle Ages because an all-powerful institution controlled the culture and dictated what art could be produced and not produced. This level of control stifled innovation of only approved subject matter.

You can compare music from 500-1500, vs just 30 years: 1920-1950. Just the range and expression of music compared to the Middle Ages is not even comparable.

About variety, yeah, almost definitely. But first of all you have immediate access to everything from the past hundred years while almost all of their music is lost, and also, modern music benefits from billionaires burning fossils to shove out as much of it as fricking possible

                >Yeah, that's probably what happened. People from every generation since the beginning of time has thought this exact same thing and been wrong about it, but this time it's definitely right that everybody younger than 25 is an idiot
                But art always comes out

                >I mean it wasn't all crap but for like 1000 years it was crap from what was before and after.
(cont) and art WAS crap during the Middle Ages because an all-powerful institution controlled the culture and dictated what art could be produced and not produced. This level of control stifled innovation of only approved subject matter.
                Sound familiar?

Historians agree the catholic church didn't have solid authority until the late middle ages, which is when you saw a rebirth of art and also opposition to the church. The clergy provided an essential service as the literate class and no alternative religion existed, but they didn't rule over the local princes. You don't know what you're talking about
on the other hand their increased power saw the construction of St Peters Basilica

Maybe not, but the art produced during the Middle Ages was objectively shit compared to the Romans/Greeks; and didn't improve until the Renaissance. I mean you had Cervantes in the 1500s; what great literature was produced from 500-1500? That's 1000 years dude

Yeah if you're a homosexual and you didn't do anything. There are many generations that came before you that had to do difficult things, and water the tree of life with their blood and the blood of others. You refused to do this because boomers, Gen X, and millennials are all extremely weak and selfish. We zoomers will not have any of the comforts you had so we will have much less to lose, and we will be forced in a situation where death will be preferable to living as cattle. You people disgust me and once things have finally been settled I hope you know that I will never forgive you for what you let happen.

I can't to see articles saying how did bottoms fail at the box office. Like no one wants to see ugly dykes try and get laid. Its unrealistic. If a dyke wants to get laid she just has to go to the nearest dyke bar. Hollywood needs to stop making LGBT comedy in general because there is no market in it.

The difference between 'classic' counterculture (I'm familiar with Hippies and what came after them) and modern counterculture is that older counterculture movements were actually counterculture. The youth movements were actively opposed to the system of power and tried (in many cases ineffectually) to do something about it.
Modern counterculture is entirely commercialized and the 'leaders' of these counterculture movements are e-celebs with their own merchandise available farming donations with parasocial friendships. Zoomies aren't throwing molotovs in the streets or forming roaming gangs of ruffians to beat up 'undesirables'. There are some narratives about going against 'the system' but it's all through the lends of 'homosexuals and Black folk are oppressed' when in actuality they are afforded more leniency than anyone else and have every government and megacorp promoting them. There is no 'counterculture' because the culture has absorbed and commercialized the idea of counterculture and 90% of people, zommers included, have fallen for it.
This isn't to say that things like Punk or Emo or Grunge or whatever weren't also extremely commercialized and pounced on by 'the system'; but those movements were authentic in their origins and you still saw a not insignificant amount of 'real' punks who would call you a homosexual poser for claiming to be punk because of your fashion or music tastes. That is not a thing here because there are no 'real' issues that have a counterculture movement.

"classic counterculture" literally only ever fought for the interests of globohomo, they just scandalized normal people, who were hapless victims of both. e.g. Labor's protests of mass immigration were instantly nipped in the bud by accusations of racism way back in the 60s with the New Left.
      >Gee whiz, modern life sure is soulless. Frick the system! Frick capitalists and cops and government squares but most especially FRICK MY PARENTS and their way of life!
      >*proceeds to do nothing about capitalists, cops, or the government while effectively bullying white normies into supporting Social Cause #5983*
Ted wrote about this but can't be assed to dig it up

When are you encountering people in real life getting mad at you for hating lesbians? Do you normally hang out around a lot of lesbians? Or is that a topic you like to bring up a lot just to let everybody around you know you don't like them? When in your actual day to day life is this happening to you?

The behaviour of your average white millennial/zoomer male makes sense when you realize that deep down they all wish they were lesbians.
