>there are midwits on Cinemaphile who can't differentiate between themes and settings
is there any other board so completely disinterested in their theme?
Not that gay people deserve any of this harassment, but finding out what homeboy did to his wife, I admit I now enjoy this scene. If you touch a woman, you deserve to bleed.
I love how eager the fed interviewer is when it starts compared to the complete shock and awe at the end when she realizes she gave him complete immunity and he said all of that shit. Dumb b***h lmao
This is the only show where every character feels like they are believable human beings, they are never all good or all bad, they have their motivations that all make sense and all go through some sort of development that suits them. Breaking Bad tries to do the whole "protagonist is the villain" but it feels ridiculous by the end with how forced Walt's "mastermind drug lord" persona gets. Vic Mackey does shit ten times as bad as Walt and yet still feels like a more relatable, sympathetic character. There will never be another like this show, the closest to it I think was Justified.
>Mackey doesn't feel sympathetic at all. I rewatched recently and he's an absolute piece of shit.
You rewatched with soi vision apparently. Vic does nothing wrong in the entire show IMO.
The only times I kind of disliked Vic was when he went too far humiliating Dutch, but Dutch could be such an insufferable redditor. Other than that, I always rooted for Vic.
I felt sympathetic towards him up until he screwd Ronnie over. Guy was the most loyal to him and Vic didn't even have the decency to give him a heads up to run away like he was originally planning.
Love the racial imagery in this show. The 4 white men all suited up in their cop gear and sunglasses. Most prominently you have Vic and Shane looking like a skinhead and a redneck respectively. And they're rolling up into these black and mexican jungles with extreme brutality.
Its such a vicarious thrill. You can't watch this shit without wishing you were there by their side in the LA heat. Your boot on a black man's neck while Kid Rock is blasting.
The racial aspects are only briefly discussed apart from Vic and Shane letting out some casual racism every now and then but the imagery of this show is pure white supremacism and every fan knows and loves it.
It is easily the most down-to-earth, gritty cop show ever. There's no delusion over how crime can be stopped or how society can be improved, every character in the show is so mature and realistic they all essentially accept they live in a degenerate failed city and just do their job. Even the "idealist" character, Claudette, who genuinely only wants to do the best possible thing in every situation, feels so much more mature and real than any other detective drama cops. The show even succeeds in getting you to hate her a bit, questioning why the hell would she be so dedicated to bringing down some corrupt cops in a city where everyone is corrupt. Glenn Close's guest character in season 4 is also pure kino in this regard.
Claudette is the rare occurrence when a stronk womyn actually works. She's a negress on top of that. She could have so easily been completely insufferable, but she's a top 3 character for me.
>Doesn't bother you, what he does? >I don't judge other cops >Mackey's not a cop, he's Al Capone with a badge >Al Capone made money by giving people what they wanted. What people want these days is to get to their cars without being mugged, come home from work see their stereo still there. Hear about some murder in the barrio, find out the next day the police caught the guy. If having those things means some cop roughs up some Hispanic or some Black person in the ghetto, as far as most people are concerned, it's don't ask don't tell.
Claudette is an amazing character
>Written by whites
Lucky this shit was early 2000s. Black actors are have too much power to repeat the words of the white man now. Its all woke grandstanding and shucking and jiving. If the Shield was filmed today she'd start ranting about BLM garbage and anyone on the crew who tried to stop her would be fired.
She is saying how people are alright with their freedoms being abused and giving police power to do whatever they want, as long as it doesn't happen to THEM personally. And she is right, people don't care about "some Hispanic or some Black person" getting roughed up, they still don't, they just pretend to for social media likes. But she also understands why people think this way, disagreeing with it but not simply complaining.
Somehow I fricking missed this show. The biggest reasons are they did not tv this in my counntry and later when people online were talking about this I have thought they were talking about agents of shield for some reason and I dissmissed them as morons for liking it. Anyway gonna start watching this during weekend.
agents of shield is a genuine barrier for entry for us, i feel it was created purely to bury our kino in the seo algorithm. >YOU WANNA MAKE ANOTHER CAPESHIT HUH?
Was killing Terry in character for Vic? Feels extreme compared to most of what he does after like they hadn't fully figured out the limits of his character yet but wanted to shock people hard in the pilot.
He makes it pretty clear he places his squad and his family above everything else. Vic would never let another cop get away with trying to take down his operation, killing Terry was definitely meant to be extreme but they also had a perfect way to disguise it.
I love the procedural drama aspect of the show, and just the fact that it's seldom like a huge twist who the guilty is. The first suspect is often the one, they just need to find the evidence or confession first.

Is this one of these series that has random sex scenes thrown in, or I can actually watch it with my mom who loves police series?
We're finishing watching hawaii 5.0, so we need a new series to watch when I visit her on sundays.
It's fairly classy, in a strange sense
The violence and sex is never gratuitous as far as I can remember
if your mom isnt comfortable with sex scenes she will not be comfortable with the shield. theres a handful of sex scenes that are pretty pg13 and far from the worst things that happen on the show, and far from the most offensive to someone like that.
watch columbo instead, the other most kino police show
>cum jars
ugh.
why cant they make more shows like Monk? Or early seasons CSI Las Vegas?
It was fun finding out who was the murderer during the episode before the characters. We always had fun doing that.

I will look into it. Maybe older stuff is more interesting, because newer series always appeal to high-tech to solve mysteries, which is lame as hell.
In the new Magnum PI, they always casually hack into the spy sattellites to find random thugs. It's the equivalent of having a pocket china man in old novels that wrote itself into a corner.
>why cant they make more shows like Monk? Or early seasons CSI Las Vegas? >It was fun finding out who was the murderer during the episode before the characters. We always had fun doing that.

It's pure early 2000s edge, basically the creators testing the waters to see how much they can get away with on basic cable. And they indulge on that to the point of pure silliness, hence the SUCK IT scene played in every goddamn recap when the episode involves Ass Invader. There's good stuff but it's buried under the "fricked-up case of the week" plot structure.
This. The writers were clearly more interested in being edgy than in social justice or in calling out police corruption. Vic and the strike team are even shown as heroes a lot of the time. It's a fun show if you don't think too much about it, but when you start nick picking you realize how fricked up it is.
I think you have a good point. HBO changed the game and the non-pay cable channels all tried to compete by green-lighting edgy, anti-hero dramas to get some of heat for their brand. I think that's why the business guys gave the creative guys so much latitude.
This show's depiction of women and minorities was generally pretty redpilled but you Claudette was proto-woke imo. Never bothered me back in the day but now my eyes are open I can see it.
Puppet. Also in this case the leftist seething is a poison chalice. No abortions = black population growth. The drain on the tax payer grows. The chaos and crimes resulting from single black mothers raising kids grows.

how many of them have you met? you really think there are entire races of people and not a single one is at all intelligent or virtuous?
you literally got sold a fairy tale on here
It's just back when those types of people had mostly reasonable ideas on things like corruption and humane treatment with a few wacky or misguided beliefs thrown in.
Claudette was not woke at all. She was idealistic to a fault and it was made more kino when they revealed she is going to die in the near future and how she even understands the advantage of having Vic around and how Aceveda makes use of him, but refuses to do the same.
The way I look at it is to imagine these characters in the present day if they were presented with a troony.
Vic would make their life a living hell because he's based. Claudette would use their preferred pronouns because she's woke cringe garbage.
What did this guy do to the people making the show to get them to hate him enough to put him being forced to suck dick in the preview for 100 episodes?
The 'people' making the show is Kurt Sutter and he's just a weird dude. He also put himself in a show briefly by playing the crazy Albanian that they robbed. And he made Sons of Anarchy and the spinoff show. He gave his irl wife a main role where she's usually getting raped or gangbanged. He got fired off his own show (the spinoff) for still being too weird.
Kurt Sutter is kind of based, but yeah, he's also weird as frick. The Shield was so much better than Sons of Anarchy because Shawn Ryan was in charge, so Sutter's moronic ideas like making Dutch a serial killer with a dungeon in his basement were immediately rejected.
Speaking of whom, do anons watch The Unit? Good shit that also involved a real Special Forces guy and David Mamet. Still, yeah, it was a CBS show so don't expect too much.
i started watching it exclusively because it had AssInvader's hooker in it but bailed pretty quick because it was shit. it looks like shawn ryans other projects are all shit too, did he just get lucky with the shield or did sutter's insanity actually contribute some gold?

Yeah, pretty much. The Shield struck a good balance between grounded realism and edge. I tried watching The Unit and it's incredibly dry and straightforward with little to no nuance, the sort of inoffensive thing a boomer could fall asleep watching and not miss anything important (which makes sense since it was on CBS). Sons of Anarchy is just a bunch of dumb shit happening, couldn't finish the first season

The music should be cringe, but it's played so straight that it's actually KINO. Using Bawitdaba for the climax of the first episode was such a stroke of genius.
I saw this show so many years ago, and yet, from time to time, I keep coming back to watch the end credits of the last episode. Probably the greatest season finale ever.
I shit myself recreationally and I don't need people talking about it online. But go ahead, why don't you show me your wire? Preferably the one you're gonna use to have a nice day when you realize The Shield is king of kino
This show could have been so trashy and cringe, but somehow they always landed perfectly all the shit the threw into the wall and it was pure kino from start to finish.
I think the show was better when it didn't focus on shit like money train but random ass crimes like the guy putting rat traps on people's dicks or Riceburner.
>Talking with coworkers Monday morning in the break room >"Hey anon what did you do over the weekend?" >"Not much, you?" >"Oh I totally got hooked watching that shield show." >"No way I love The Shield, how far are you?" >"Oh no no, not that old show about stupid cops, I meant Agents of Shield"
extremely based
"I KILLED MY SWEET NANCY, WHY'D I DO THAT?"

see The Shield
I have many times

Hulu. That's where all the FX shows are
Spook Street
pirate bay
Let's see that mouth.

The Shield felt like The Wire crossed with Breaking Bad but also it was more based than either show.
Neither of those Reddit shows had the balls to show something like SUCK IT.

SUCK IT!
i don't get the reference but i'll put it in my suck it folder just in case it proves valuable.

frick The Wire, what a garbage show
It's a Black person worship show, why do you think they love it so much?
Meanwhile on the shield
>SPOOK STREET

Nah, just the wiring in theirs brain.
God fricking damn I did not expect AA to be as good of a villain as he was on this show. Also that filename kek.
Well he's a villain IRL so...
>the wire kingpin is called Avon
>the shield same character called Anton
BRAVO RYAN
>that subplot where the gay cop goes to conversion therapy and he becomes straight
How did they get away with that? Absolute kino.
>then after decades of living a lie, he snaps and kills his wife
Blanket Parties seem like fun
Not that gay people deserve any of this harassment, but finding out what homeboy did to his wife, I admit I now enjoy this scene. If you touch a woman, you deserve to bleed.

You rewatched with soi vision apparently. Vic does nothing wrong in the entire show IMO.
t. cawp
I started watching this during the Glenn Close season. When I went back and watched the whole thing, this blew me away
The only times I kind of disliked Vic was when he went too far humiliating Dutch, but Dutch could be such an insufferable redditor. Other than that, I always rooted for Vic.
Vic didn't go far enough with Dutch imo. Men like Dutch have it coming. Wish Vic had pushed Dutch to suicide.
Dutch needed that to be brought back to earth, even fricking Hispanic capt gave him some shit
And his partner? Fricking sat there and let him get demolished
Billings was so based. Love how he seems like pure inept comic relief at the start but over time shows he's pretty perceptive and intelligent but just doesn't give a shit. He gets to 4D chess level with his scheme to cuck Dutch.
he also understood the importance of protecting his daughter at all costs. great dad, great cop, great entrepreneur.
>pure inept comic relief at the start but over time shows he's pretty perceptive and intelligent but just doesn't give a shit.
Literally me
Why no love for Dutch boy in this thread?
I love the procedural drama aspect of the show, and just the fact that it's seldom like a huge twist who the guilty is. The first suspect is often the one, they just need to find the evidence or confession first.
The Dutch + Claudette procedural parts are kino. The Danny + Julien parts sent me to sleep
>Why no love for Dutch boy in this thread?
No one likes that moron. He's basically a redditor and gets treated as such in the show.
This
Cinemaphile is a Mackey board. Dutch is the self insert for betas and he would have voted for Obama, Hillary and Biden.
he's the most subtly based tho
Not even close.
he gains a swagger midway through that makes every scene with him kino. its the kind of based that doesnt show up on paper
if i'm not based, then how come a lowly shitposter like me just (You)'d you
Dutch was good comic relief.

>ok shawn get this for an idea
>we cast my wife as a leading lady maybe vic or shane's wife
>ok kurt that could work
>shawn i want to write a hardcore gang rape scene for her
>she can be raped by a gang of nazis
>and henry rollins is their leader
>maybe she has an affair with ron perlman too
>kurt no we're not doing that, your wife can play gilroys wife ok? no gang rape either jesus christ
>frick you shawn one day i'll have my own show and then you'll see
>the killer in me is the killer in (You)
The music in this show is very cringe IMO.
>Kid Rock
>Coldplay (x2)
>Smashing Pumpkins
>Magnetic Fields
Yuck
yeah the music is mostly the most forgotten of buttrock. pretty decent show though
filtered zoomies
The music should be cringe, but it's played so straight that it's actually KINO. Using Bawitdaba for the climax of the first episode was such a stroke of genius.
>and the chicks with beepers
the music on this show is an even more powerful pleb filter than the story and characters.
I saw this show so many years ago, and yet, from time to time, I keep coming back to watch the end credits of the last episode. Probably the greatest season finale ever.
Could you be any more of a gay?
time for a family meeting anon
man i need to rewatch the shield
i loved it the first time i saw it and this thread is bringing back nostalgia
>Comparing this pile of dog shit to The Wire
I should knock your teeth down your throat.
you aint finna do shit witout your badge whiteboi
SPOOK STREET
SPOOK STREET
SPOOK STREET
I'll backhand the shit out of your mom too. Gross she shat out something that prefers the fricking Bootyhole Shield to The Wire.
The Wire is for pussies and gays. Which are you?
I can literally show you The Wire, but I'd bet you'd be shitting your pants.
I shit myself recreationally and I don't need people talking about it online. But go ahead, why don't you show me your wire? Preferably the one you're gonna use to have a nice day when you realize The Shield is king of kino
Fan of The Wire threatens unjustified violence. Shocker.
>comparing The Shield to the pile of shit known as The Wire
Fixed it for ya
best girl coming through
This show could have been so trashy and cringe, but somehow they always landed perfectly all the shit the threw into the wall and it was pure kino from start to finish.
JUST ANOTHER SUUUUUUUUUUCK
that scene in The Wire where the only dialogue is "frick" is cringe
Screw the serial killer Dutch's best moment was insulting the fat guy
KWAB
When his OTHER kid was also diagnosed with autism I couldn't stop laughing. I was waiting for the scene where he and his wife were also diagnosed.
>Adult onset autism
Kek
You must not have kids because that would be a fricking nightmare.
I'm not laughing at the predicament I was laughing that it happened to that specific motherfricker TWICE. Two times.
Beat me to it.
When this is remade, he'll be diagnosed as trans instead
I wasn't sure about this scene, nor the follow up where he comes in wearing a suit that says "SLANDER" on the lapel.
based and vending machine pilled
Shane did nothing wrong
Lem was a punk ass b***h
All he had to do was run to Mexico
I think the show was better when it didn't focus on shit like money train but random ass crimes like the guy putting rat traps on people's dicks or Riceburner.
i think it's got a great mix of fun filler episodes as well as main story episodes.
Based hooker played Vic. Connie didn't deserve to die tho
I wonder if black cop would have went full on bad cop if Shane and Mara didn't sperg out on him.
That's cool and all but why did you post a video of me and my ex wife having a respectful disagreement about alimony
>When you won't pay the rent and need to make your point clear by manhandling the landlord's daughter a bit.
Raimi, this is too much.
Mara was a wicked c**t, good look into the destructive nature of that kind of woman
she was a real ride or die girl, we will never be this lucky bros...
She was ride or die but she was also the reason everything in their lives (the whole team) turned to shit. Remember that.
>If you touch a woman, you deserve to bleed
>Talking with coworkers Monday morning in the break room
>"Hey anon what did you do over the weekend?"
>"Not much, you?"
>"Oh I totally got hooked watching that shield show."
>"No way I love The Shield, how far are you?"
>"Oh no no, not that old show about stupid cops, I meant Agents of Shield"
Has happened to me 4 times
