by and large most pixar shorts have been forgettable for a long while. Once they just became obvious training vehicles for up-and-coming staff and not just interesting short stories they lost a lot of interest from me.

You think any Pixar writer can write a short story? They'd rather just take a previous established character and assume anything they do will automatically be good because you remember that that character was in a good movie.
