Horrible movie.
The people that shill this garbage are the same ones trying to pander Predator 2, the Exorcist 3 and Lake Mungo as good movies.
It's just a conjoined trolling effort from the board to trick newbies into watching shit movies.
This place used to have good bait
You're a murderer and rapist of women.
>t. Aliens-loving hivemind
jesus, get some fricking taste
>he liked Newt
Newt was just Camerons annoying plot device that kept falling into holes just so the characters had to do stupid shit to up the ante. Newt is honestly the worst part of Aliens.
>waking up in stasis pods >getting to know the group >being sent on a mission >motion trackers >the discovery >knocking something over startles Ripley >suspicious android prods at and admires a facehugger >Ripley is the sole voice of reason and nobody listens >shit hits the fan and Ripley takes charge, despite the complaints of others >cocooned person who is set on fire >the group is picked off >man puts his hand in alien goo >a company plant tries to kill Ripley >Ripley is choked >her cute little friend goes missing >Ripley goes back to find said cute little friend >flammenwerfer! it werfs flammen. >countdown to a nuclear explosion >escaping the explosion on a small ship >Ripley is safe aboard that other ship...? >nope, turns out a xeno stowed aboard (spoilers btw) >Ripley gears up to fight the xeno >xeno is blown into space from an airlock >ends on Ripley and her cute little friend in stasis
Is that Alien or Aliens?
Horrible movie.

Relying on CG wasn't the best move, but what it lacks in the occasional visual effect it more than makes up for with its bleak atmosphere and earthy palette.
I still enjoy Alien Cubed, especially when compared with that awful chunk of shite Resurrection. It completely wasted Michael Wincott and never improved from then on.
CGI was crap even by that time.
Scenario was not creative at all.
Hicks and Newt die for no reason and no one gives a frick.
Bishop is back in the end bro.
At least the acting was ok.
>Hicks and Newt die for no reason and no one gives a frick.
It's not their story. I didn't ever miss them. A useless kid and generic muhreen who's badly injured sounds like aimless baggage.
Yes, it was their story, you stupid frick. And Alien 3 isn't and has never been canon. You can keep sucking wieners though and believing in magical eggs all you want though.
>It's not their story
It took a lot of efforts to keep them alive, Newt was the lost daughter of Ripley and Hicks the brave lover. Yes it was their story, and they didn't even pass the opening credits wtf...
I guess I consider it from a script angle; they basically fulfilled the roles they had in Ripley's story, and I think it would have been a bloated mess to keep them around. There were so many other characters in 3, maybe too many and arguably too similar, but it's still all about Ripley and the alien by the end, which feels right.
That was their own stupid fault for deciding that the story had to happen on the way home even though that's stupid and blatantly impossible. The story could have just as easily happened many years later after a time skip just like between the first and second movie. And no, the story didn't need Ripley at all. There is no ever-present, evil universal force that is guiding Ripley's destiny which has decided that she needs to do battle with the alien again and again until finally she dies. That's moronic. Having a whole new cast for #3 would have been perfectly fine and actually far improved the series as a whole by letting the main three rest.
> 3 times the suspense. > 3 times the danger. > 3 times the terror.
I don't see how any of those are true, regardless if you are comparing it to Alien or Aliens. It has more suspense than Aliens, sure, but 3 times? I think not.
You're right. It's my second favorite Alien movie, with the OG being number 1 of course. Resurrection is dogshit and I don't even consider Aliens as part of the franchise. For me it's on its own with stuff like AvP.
I mean, it won't tell you what happened to the other survivors of Alien, nor will it explain how Ripley got impregnated, or why they needed to resurrect her. Shy of that, I don't know why it wouldn't.
Alien Resurrection is actually good too. There’s all these movies from the 90s and 2000s that are infamous for being bad that actually aren’t it’s just that Gen X and boomers have shit taste and shit opinions. They spaz and freak out anytime something deviates from the formula. Then being in charge of current Hollywood is why it’s in the state it’s in.
It's pretty much any entertainment medium. IDK if you're also into vidya, but the 90s were absolutely filled with ambitious gambles, and it led to real gems.
These days, every major player from the 90's is saying, "we have to capture the X audience," or is resting comfortably on their laurels, making minimal changes from one game to another.
The only true gambles you can find are either due to corporate arm twisting (like NieR Automata, where the creator of Dragon Quest said he wouldn't make another game until he got to work with Taro again), or in the indie scene (which is also filled to the brim with lazy cash grabs).
>jungle planet >freaking monks >studio insisted on a prison >weaver insisted on no guns
Everyone involved were idiots. No wonder this movie was such a disaster
Aliens is a good film, but a terrible Alien film, forgoing the lovecraftian elements of the fist movie.Alien 3 is more in line with the themes of the first movie.
Ridley casually deciding to dissect Newt's corpse was the moment I shut this shit off
>t. Aliens-loving hivemind

You can say the same stupid shit about Jonesy. Alien was just as dumb as Aliens in every way.
Newt was functionally the exact same as Jonesy.

>Horrible movie.
Theatrical release maybe, assembly cut is vastly superior.
And Mission Impossible 2
This place used to have good bait
You're a murderer and rapist of women.
It gave us back what Aliens lacked.
Felt like a rehash. Apart from the prison setting it didn't really offer much new, and the franchise has been creatively bankrupt since.
It had too much quips and the visual effects were worse.
>the visual effects were worse
yeah, because they were SO great in the previous ones, lmao
pic related, the absolute PEAK of practical effects
Yeah this whole scene looks great, what was you point again?
now say that with a straight face, gay
the only "visual effects" i care about involve sigourney weaver bush
Can't remember they showed it in any movie
They accidentally killed themselves, 10/10 comedy masterpieces

Just my opinion, Mr. Angry. Their absence never impacted the movie for me.

do irl rapists also hype-shout before penetrating?
i do
It was shit and the original sexy female alien idea was superior
Should've used the dog suit
>Alien quadrilogy
Kino...I simply pretend Prometheus and Covenant does not exist.
I simply pretend it's a trilogy.
This
>Alien
>Aliens
>Alien Resurrection
The perfect trilogy
potential kino, i should rewatch to see if everything works ok.
I mean, it won't tell you what happened to the other survivors of Alien, nor will it explain how Ripley got impregnated, or why they needed to resurrect her. Shy of that, I don't know why it wouldn't.

Prometheus and Covenant improve the lore of the universe and are more in line with the tone of the original film.
it was boring af nocap

yeah it was pretty good.
Assembly Cut > Theatrical Cut
There's plenty wrong with it
>killed off beloved characters
>introduced new shitty characters
>too bleak
>boring setting
>atrocious vfx
>horrible pacing
There's a reason David has disowned this shit
>too bleak
The main reason I love it
Typical Aliens Theme Ride fan argument.
>wheres muh space marines
Intro is kino, it goes down the drain once they get her inside.
It would have been smarter ditch Ripley and co. and give us a new protagonist for each new film.
>jungle planet
>freaking monks
>studio insisted on a prison
>weaver insisted on no guns
Everyone involved were idiots. No wonder this movie was such a disaster
>jungle planet
Pretty sure it was an desolate, cold world.
Yeah, I always got the vibe that it was closer to the USSR than it was a jungle.
I hated the way they killed Clemens. At the end wasted all that time with him and Ripley bonding.
I hated their forced "relationship. "OK, let's frick" out of the blue.
Yes, I agree with you. I rate it as high as the original two
3 is okay, but I preferred watching Weaver and Jean-Pierre Jeunet take a fat shit all over comic book wet dream script Whedon wrote for Fox.
Unironically kino
Aliens is a good film, but a terrible Alien film, forgoing the lovecraftian elements of the fist movie.Alien 3 is more in line with the themes of the first movie.
