It's one thing to acknowledge modern society's reaction to something, while laughing, and another to be PERSONALLY offended by it. Especially when the whole point of filming an episode of your show is to tell everyone how much you love the film and that viewers should watch it, and you explicitly close with a statement about how tired you are of people being offended by everything.

eyyyyy. i don't consider myself someone who loses their mind over this stuff even if i'm not a fan, but i've definitely gotten the impression that RLM have become quite a bit more politically correct or "sensitive" than their early days, but good on you mike.

            >inarguably racist scene
lol mildly insensitive and exaggerated maybe but if you offended "americans" (it's never real americans like wasps and krauts) actually learned about other food cultures beyond what fusion food grifters upsell you you'd know brains in gravy aka maghaz/bheja curry is a popular dish in india and pakistan. (no eyeball soup but people do eat eyeballs off fish which is pretty much always served with head still on)
That's actual food mind you. Religious and medicinal-religious stuff gets way worse in reality than what indy pokes fun at. Drinking the corpse-water out of the Ganges for a famous instance.

Well yeah, its made to be revolting and gross on top of being presented as "oh this is just an exotic meal!". Obviously, it'll make anyone uncomfortable if you have a conscience.

            Anonymous

If anything it's just accurate to how americans react when presented with real foreign food.
Try serving an american tripe made out of cow's stomach or even just regular european blood foods and see them recoil with much less comedy than in the film. Only exception is non-boomers when they're doing some social media thing for money.

I think there's a significant amount of people who are either ESLs, or genuinely autistic, who don't understand that when Mike/Rich point out something being "problematic" now, they're being sarcastic/tongue in cheek about it. I think these people hear words in a sentence and think "that must be what that person talking actually thinks."

RLM however loves this movie and think it's the best Indiana Jones film.

Yes, it was unexpected of Rich Evans, a man with the sociopolitical acumen of a bag of grass clippings, whose typical opinions on any given subject can be found by typing "what should I think about X" into the Google search bar, to be cognizant of Raiders of the Lost Ark being a israeli revenge film.

I'm not sure why you're upset by that.

Honestly there's just so many good Best of the Worst/Wheel of the Worst episodes I don't even know where to begin.

I think for a "basic", "here's what it's like" episode, something like the Ghetto Blaster/Killing American Style, The Jar/White Fire, Deadly Prey/Miami Connection episodes go down easy. For something extra special you can go Pass Thru, Twister Pair, or Ryan's Babe episodes, or watch the Suburban Sasquatch spotlight.

Wheel of the Worst is always a crazy grab bag of random ass non-movie shitty VHS tapes. Obviously Surviving Edged Weapons is the pinnacle, and Rem Lezar is up there too. The Shoji Tabuchi show, Don Beveridge/"Push the Whopper button!", that crazy ass death clown lady... it's hard to really list specific episodes, you should just go pull up an easy-to find best of the worst chronological playlist and go from there.

And Top Ten Things You Didn't Know About Darth Vader's Suit is the ultimate peak kino... but it won't really hit that hard unless you're already in tune with Mike And Rich's characters.

I think there's a deleted scene or part of unused script where the Brit is talking about how odd is the whole Indians eating meat and how real Hindus would never eat meat. He concludes that they are attempting to scare them away. It is a clue that everyone there is an evil Thuggee.

      That would be interesting.

Frankly, I don't really care either way. I love films that just embrace the "exotic is EXOTIC" archetype. No one should be ashamed of portraying some distant foreign culture as bizarre to sell an exciting adventure. Modern globohomosexual and information age interconnectivity have ruined us.

Damn why'd they cut it? Unironically a good bit of foreshadowing and would have saved it from being labeled problematic. Unless they just wanted the reveal that Chattar Lal and the Maharajah were all in on it to be a surprise.

        >a devout hindu would never touch meat
lol more like they wouldn't eat cow specifically.
Questionable how much that has to do with being devout and how much it has to do with nationalist butthurt at times tho.

Lao Chec (the Chinese gangster who owns the Club Obi Wan in Shanghai.) was enough of a fan favorite for Spielberg to consider bringing him back for a sequel, even possibly making him the antagonist of what would become Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Sadly, any plans for the character's return were quashed when Roy Chiao died in 1999.

In early drafts of the story, the burning Sankara Stones actually release Mola Ram from the same Black Sleep of the Kali Ma he inflicts on Indiana Jones before falling to his death, hinting that he may not have been in control of his actions.

Temple of Doom sucks not because of one dumb scene where characters eat bugs and monkey brains, it sucks because Willie Scott never shuts the frick up and the story is not interesting.

For me their downfall started midway into their TLJ review when they refused to admit that the prequels weren’t better than the sequels. That’s when I realized Mike’s ego was getting out of control and that he needed to be stopped.

The Deadly Prey, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, and Miami Connection episode is my favorite partially due to all of the movies being entertaining and not just horrible.

Both parts of the Star Wars Holiday Special are pretty great.

The first Christmas episode with Elves, Santa Claus, and Christmas vacation 2 is a classic as well.

You could start with Mr. Plinkett’s Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Review, but RLM moved on from that long ago.

It's is a 70-minute review of the first Star Wars prequel that is both hilarious and insightful narrated by an old man suffering from polio and bordering on senility and psychosis and also a serial killer.

Best of the Worst and Half in the Bag are their most successful series.

      >Half in the Bag

It's them roleplaying as VCR repairman while reviewing current films.

      >Best of the Worst

It's them reviewing trashy B movies and movies of even lower quality.

      >Best of the Worst: Wheel of the Worst is watching trashy instructional videos.

Then there's re:View if you want a more serious discussion.
