They are all really good. Patriot is kinda a rehash of Braveheart tho.

just go in knowing that they're all historical gibberish, picking and choosing elements and historical figures with no basis in reality
Gladiator gets the period completely right and is entertaining as frick, same with The Patriot
Braveheart gets literally nothing about the period right but was still entertaining as frick

Braveheart is fricking amazing I cri every time. A gift of a thistle is up there with the best. The other two are good too especially like Ralf Möller in Gladiator.

Gladiator: you want a fun action movie set in ancient Rome, this is the film for you. Sure it's a bit cheesy, but that's the point of action films. Great fight sequences, you won't have to think too hard, just enjoy seeing Max kicking arse and the evil emperor getting a spanking. It knows what film it is and delivers well and that's very satisfying. Don't expect anything deep and you'll have a lot of fun watching this.

Braveheart: Its not as fun as Gladiator due to questionable logic, being quite historically inaccurate and them fluffing the ending (seriously, if they were going to mess with what happened so much throughout the story, why not just give it a better ending), but with really well choreographed medieval battles it's got a lot going for it and is still satisfying.

(Rob Roy was released at the same time and really is kino, worth as shot of you and your Dad enjoyed Braveheart)

The Patriot: lol, no, your dad's on his own there.
