I've never heard a coherent explanation for what Persona or The Mirror is about. It's always "dude it's art, you're not meant to understand it" or something like that. I still like both those films btw.
Mulholland Drive and 2001 are the only ones that require any critical thinking. Donnie Darko and The Shining are only confusing if you're moronic. The rest are so easy to understand because the writers/filmmakers spell out the answer. Why are normies so brainrotted?
I think the most obvious was the significance of the ending and what it really meant, but everyone has their own interpretation when watching for the first time. The discrepancies on things like the Grady twins ages. Ullman described them and said they were 8 and 10 years old but when we see them they are obviously twins
I haven't seen all of these, but I thought Tenet was supposed to be really confusing. In a "too dumb to be coherent" way, as opposed to "too smart for you"
the only movies on this list ive seen are the shining and 2001 and theyre not confusing at all, in fact theyre some of my favorite kinos of all time
i can only assume the rest of the list is also equally un-confusing as those and this list is made by morons for morons
I don't get why people are confused by Kubrick's movies at all, his movies are really straightforward in terms of the plot or even the subtext of it. Hell, there are always one or two scenes in his movies solely used for exposition and such to help people understand the general idea of them.
there's like 3 on that list that are 'confusing'
every other one spells out exactly what the events of the movie meant- having a twist doesn't make them confusing
I'm thinking of ending things is genuinely fricking bizarre, especially since I hadn't seen Oklahoma! before watching it
This was my thought exactly. moronic people going “oh wow I didn’t see that coming! That’s CONFUSING!” No it’s not you braindead frick, it’s just unexpected.
What actually is the most confusing movie of all time?
I've never heard a coherent explanation for what Persona or The Mirror is about. It's always "dude it's art, you're not meant to understand it" or something like that. I still like both those films btw.
Speaking for myself it is image related. It was the first time I wrote an explanation of a movie on the Internet and I am ashamed of it.
Transformers 5: The Last Knight
Transformers movies are only confusing if you expect them to make sense in the first place.
Primer
Tenet is objectively the most confusing film of all time. It's also objectively a piece of shit.
Tenet is confusing because by the time they start explaining what's going on everyone's zoned out.
Even if you're not zoned out, the explanation requires you to piece together the mess that you just witnessed. Not the easiest task.
Eraserhead has to be a contender at least
I still don't understand why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane
forgot pic
maybe he'll land in a lake and survive
but hitting concrete at that speed is like hitting water

Primer is the most confusing non-arthouse type film I've ever watched.
you must have been on your phone, it's a pretty straight forward time travel movie
That's actually pretty hard to answer because a lot of disjointed nonsensical movies were made in the last decade.
Terminator Genysis.
Mulholland Drive and 2001 are the only ones that require any critical thinking. Donnie Darko and The Shining are only confusing if you're moronic. The rest are so easy to understand because the writers/filmmakers spell out the answer. Why are normies so brainrotted?
Todd Hayne's Safe (1995). It's confusing because I honestly can't figure out for the life of me if its supposed to be satire or serious.
It had satirical elements, but it was about a very real (and also rather dark) aspect of the "wellness" industry.
Heroic Purgatory
Phantom Menace
>4 Nolan films.
Bravo Nolan.
The Shining was intentionally confusing
what was confusing about it?
I think the most obvious was the significance of the ending and what it really meant, but everyone has their own interpretation when watching for the first time. The discrepancies on things like the Grady twins ages. Ullman described them and said they were 8 and 10 years old but when we see them they are obviously twins
Kubrick explained it, they're reincarnations. The twins are just from an earlier Grady or Jack iteration, not the girls who the latest Grady killed.
They're not twins. they're just dressed the same.
I watched pulp fiction with a friend and he was confused how john travolta could be alive at the end of the movie after he got shot in the bathroom.
Your friend sounds moronic
Get better friends
They are hard to understand when you are distracted by tiktok every 5 minutes man 🙁
Magnolia
Nolan's films only pretend to be confusing.
I haven't seen all of these, but I thought Tenet was supposed to be really confusing. In a "too dumb to be coherent" way, as opposed to "too smart for you"
>too dumb to be coherent" way, as opposed to "too smart for you"
This is how all Nolan's movies are
the only movies on this list ive seen are the shining and 2001 and theyre not confusing at all, in fact theyre some of my favorite kinos of all time
i can only assume the rest of the list is also equally un-confusing as those and this list is made by morons for morons

Ok? Why did you feel the need to add that. Confusing doesn’t mean bad, ESL
I don't get why people are confused by Kubrick's movies at all, his movies are really straightforward in terms of the plot or even the subtext of it. Hell, there are always one or two scenes in his movies solely used for exposition and such to help people understand the general idea of them.
How have you not seen Matrix? I thought pajeets like yourself loved that shit.
doesnt look interesting
You should watch it. There's lots of slow motion just like your Bollywood movies. 🙂
i'm not indian you gay moron
>big twist in the end = confusing
people are moronic
>these movies
>confusing
Tenet is just memento with magnets.
Sounds confusing as frick, dawg
The Matrix and Fight Club aren't confusing. They're just bad at contruing their points that don't work in reality.
Mulholland Drive is purposely confusing, but it's a woke flick about being lesbian in Hollywood.
The shining isn't confusing.
Tenet is a gimmick and not confusing if you watch it slowly with a lot of rewinding
2001 isn't confusing if you watch it sped up.
>Tenet is a gimmick and not confusing if you watch it slowly with a lot of rewinding
That sounds confusing to me, but really it's just shit.
i could see donnie darko being confusing if you dont see the directors cut.
Even Nolan has trouble trying to decipher his own shit.
Also, who the frick is getting confused over fight club and matrix?? They literally spell it out for you
It's clickbait trash.
How is Matrix confusing? It is pretty straightforward.
>no Primer
>no Synedoche, NY
there's like 3 on that list that are 'confusing'

>nocturnal animals is confusing!
many people need to be sterilized
Competency crisis is now hitting viewers.
Im still confused who was phone
zoomers don't watch their movies - they play on their phone
They watch react videos to know how they should be reacting to things, and then they watch explained videos to havre the video explained to them
