She doesn’t hate Calvin at all. She constantly wants to play with him but he usually acts like a jerk towards her. She still seems to like him regardless but Calvin is the problem
She literally thought about how much she hated him once, signed a contract from Calvin where it promises that the two won't ever interact again, and won't even be friendly when Calvin is just using his imagination or just asking to trade cards with her without any maliciousness.
Watterson said he didn't like that one, but if it wasn't for it barely anybody would think Calvin likes Susie even a tiny bit. It also explains why Susie wants to play with Calvin sometimes despite him being an butthole.
>She literally thought about how much she hated him once, signed a contract from Calvin where it promises that the two won't ever interact again, and won't even be friendly when Calvin is just using his imagination or just asking to trade cards with her without any maliciousness.
This is completely normal behavior for children. It's practically the same way the girl next door treated me when we were 6 years old, and I swore to never visit her basically every single time we met, and we still met a bunch later anyway.
What the frick, OP? They are six years old. Most really little children act like total buttholes and fight about everything, the ones who are already polite at that age are rare.
Am I the only one who's bothered by Susie not having any sort of imagination besides playing house? She can't even humor Calvin when he's pretending, like finding a dinosaur foot or pretending to be sinking in quick sand
she's too typically female
see if Calvin wasn't vice president of G.R.O.S.S. and played nicer with his own imaginations i bet she'd love to play with Calvin's imagination. you just can't tell when Calvin is going to play dinosaur foot and when he decides he's the dinosaur all along and bites you
The comics don't even show Susie having an imagination outside of the aformentioned house sunday strips. I really don't like how Susie was handled as a character in the last years of the strips life, and I find the fact that Watterson saying that Calvin still had a crush on her in 1995 to be hard to swallow, considering he even admitted to changing their dynamic later
>The comics don't even show Susie having an imagination outside of the aformentioned house sunday strips.
That's because Calvin is the POV character, not Susie. She doesn't even show up all that much. It's called Calvin And Hobbes, after all.
In that strip with Calvin showing Susie his dinosaur foot, he wasn't even being hostile when showing her it, and only got pissed when she just dismissed his claim and not play along

Why do so many C&H fans on shit like reddit hate the idea of someone making a comic about a grown up calvin giving hobbes to his kid? I literally saw one post comparing it to pissing on watterson
It's not 'pissing on watterson' but it is definitely going against his wishes and perspectives on storytelling. Watterson is very against the idea of shitting out more and more continuations to things after the story has already run its course. He would prefer if people did their own things and used their own creative ideas rather than piggybacking an established IP.
If you want to capture the childlike wonder and magic of C&H you can do so without including Hobbes (or Calvin). If you need to include Hobbes so you can have throwbacks or references to the original, you are not making your own original work/ideas.
Calvin and Hobbes holds a very special place in my childhood. I don't think it needs to be continued and I don't think anyone could do a good job, even Watterson.

Why does Susie hate Calvin so much even when he's not insulting or throwing shit at her
So in conclusion from the strips I've posted, we can conclude that
1. Susie fricking detests Calvin's imagination
2. Thinks he's stupid when he's just not commited enough to apply himself
3. Wishes that she was away from him
And before ANY of you say "Well why does she keep playing house", she has no one else. Otherwise she would avoid him at all costs
The intention seems to be to call attention to how Calvin and Susie in the comic are prepubescent children in the "other sex is icky" phase, and that as they get older and experience sexual attraction, the literal boy/girl next door is going to be an obvious possible target for attraction regardless of childhood conflicts.
Why doesn't Susie act like that towards Calvin in later strips then? Clearly they retconned it so that she hates him

So can we agree that Calvin at least has a crush on Susie even in thr last years of the strip given how Hobbes still teased him about her on Valentine's day?
DAMN YOU ALL SUSIE FRICKING HATES CALVIN'S GUTS. I'M SURE THAT IF YOU ASKED WATTERSON HE WOULD AGREE AND CLAIM THAT SHE'LL NEVER BE FRIENDS WITH HIM AND ALWAYS RESENT AND HATE HIM.
Actually my dad's neighbor's cousin's accountant is in a poker club with Bill Watterson and he says it's 100% canon that Calvin and Susie got married and he hits that every night
when I was in middle school my history teacher had a whole collection of Calvin and Hobbes comics, some collector editions that had compilations of the comics altogether. All these years later, and I still feel bad for unintentionally stealing one of his books. Borrowed it with intent to bring it back, and just forgot. I lost it a long time ago, but I hope that old teach didn't notice.
I had complete C&H as a kid and even the ones with drafts and directors' commentary. You on the other hand are a fake fan. A true Calvin and Hobbes Head would never deprive another of the wonder and joy of these great comics.
Also, another thing which pisses me off about the comics is that they're this cramped claustrophobic little universe where Watterson refused to as much as name Calvin's parents based on artistic purity. So the whole Max arc he had to dance around that for no fucjing reason and thus we never see any other member of Calvin's family. There aren't enough characters in the strip. Comic strips in general are the most stifling suffocating medium ever.
A lot of you grew up without friends and it shows. Kids are dumb and anyone can see they liked each other. Imagine being this socially moronic. No wonder people tell you guys to go outside.
They're nice
Susie hates Calvin you dummy. Why would she ever get with him
She doesn’t hate Calvin at all.
She hates her man
>her
Him, I meant she hates him
Calm down, Susie, you know Calvin doesn't hate you, he's just a little mean. You don't have to force yourself to hate him back.
Be quiet
Naw there was exactly one comic where they have a little spat, then walk away both thinking "wow, they LIKE me!" with big smiles on their faces

Being tsundere is not a good quality
Frick off weebs
She's nice though, so maybe you're wrong
She doesn't consider him her friend. She even asks Calvin if he has any, which means she doesn't consider him hers
Maybe she got confused and forgot she could be included
She doesn't give a shit about him.
They interact too often for this to be true
They're neighbors. They wait at the same bus stop.
So you agree that they hate each other and that they will never be friends right
Children are toxic in general
/thread
calvin is a little shit. but he's a endearing and relatable little shit.
This, I mean
What the frick, OP? They are six years old. Most really little children act like total buttholes and fight about everything, the ones who are already polite at that age are rare.
I didn't act like that, and neither did my older sister
So where are the counter-arguments to show that Susie doesn't hate him, because I don't see any
She's based on the sort of girl that Bill Watterson was attracted to in youth, and the kind of woman he eventually married.
Watterson said he didn't act like Calvin when he was a kid. Therefore, we can conclude Calvin will never grow to like Susie and get along
That was an early comic. In the comics last years she hates him and says she would never send him a valentine
5 years olds?
Am I the only one who's bothered by Susie not having any sort of imagination besides playing house? She can't even humor Calvin when he's pretending, like finding a dinosaur foot or pretending to be sinking in quick sand

>calvin is a terrorist
Was that ever in question?
I mean, for a 6 year old kid that fantasy wouldn't surprise me
Chad Calvin. FRICK women
The word toxic in this definition is a meme term and it long overstayed its welcome
Is that Bloom Country crossover in 2021 canon or not
What would Bill Watterson think of anime that isn't Astro Boy?
Would they even become friends when they grow up?
Why do so many people on the Calvin and Hobbe reddit hate people writing stories or comics with Calvin as an adult?
Cause it's shitty fanfiction
>That time W.I.T.C.H. had a reference to these two
Bit older here though. And their hair colors are reversed.

1. Susie fricking detests Calvin's imagination
2. Thinks he's stupid when he's just not commited enough to apply himself
3. Wishes that she was away from him
And before ANY of you say "Well why does she keep playing house", she has no one else. Otherwise she would avoid him at all costs

Suzy secretly is kind of attracted to Calvin. Always trying to play house with him.

Comic strips in general are the most stifling suffocating medium ever.
you don't have to make it personal anon 🙁
And you didn't have to steal that musty cum stained book from that old pedophile. Yet here we are.
More like they deserve each-other.
A lot of you grew up without friends and it shows. Kids are dumb and anyone can see they liked each other. Imagine being this socially moronic. No wonder people tell you guys to go outside.
The OP is a troll, you morons. Stop feeding him.
