giving it for doing classes was moronic as well

you have to be wearing the time turner in the first place to turn back time. hermione had it in year 3, not year 4 or 5. just year 3. it was used properly.

They didn't change a single thing going back in time. Everything already happened before they even went back in time, you dont actually change the past. It's amazing how people cannot understand something so simple.

That was retconed sweety. You can change the past, Hermione is black and the snack lady on the train is an all powerful spirit who guards the train.

JK Rowling said it is canon. If you disagree you are a troony lover.

Yeah, because they chose to do it in the present.

So why didn't they choose to do it when fighting Voldemort?

All the time turners got destroyed during the fight with Death Eaters in Order of the Phoenix

Not that Anon but they could not use the time turners because destiny/ God said they would not. Harry Potter, like real life, is completely deterministic and people only have the illusion of free will.

same reason Harry and Hermione didn't run into Hagrid's cabin and attack Peter the mouse
one of the most important rules is you must not be seen, another thing is you should not use it for personal gains
you can frick up everything trying to use time turners against Voldemort and make things worse

If the rules are so crucial and the consequences for breaking them so devastating, why did they give it to an 11 year old to take extra classes?

She was older than that and one of the smartest students regardless. I know this concept might be hard to understand.

That doesn’t answer the obvious question
                >using time turners terribly dangerous and strictly off limits
                >oh this little girl wants to learn a different thing at school instead of learning it next semester
                >let’s throw ALL caution to the wind
                >not at all a gaping plot hole!

The extra classes thing was an excuse. Dumbledore knew it would be necessary so he gave it to one of his child soldiers with a thin pretense to make it look like he wasn't subverting the government. Cornelius Fudge was 100% right about that overly ambitious gay bastard.

as I said I don't like the fact of using time travel for extra classes sane either but magic people do moronic stuff, very big chances of getting fricked up

In Galaxy Quest they can only go back 10 seconds and that makes a difference.

    Yeah.
All time travel in sci-fi and fansaty should be avoided.
Once it’s possible in your universe there is no reason not to use it for important things. Removes all the stakes.

The time turning doesn't change anything in Prisoner of Azkaban, it just shows you the same thing from two different perspectives. People unironically cannot follow a kids story.

Harry is literally saved by himself and the patronus before he even goes back in time, from his point of view. See how stupid you are? Nothing "changed" by going back in time.

The time turning is a loop. Sirius was always saved, even before Harry went back in time. That's how fictional time travel is depicted here.
