Char's Rick Dom isn't something new, its a really old msv thing. Probably like one of the first ones they thought up after they made gunpla of everything actually in the original series.
That’s true, it’s from the original novelization but still to see it animated very close to the style of the 1979 series is something to behold, show this
to some back in the 80s/90s and they’d think it’s real
Not really. OYW space has always been depicted as faster and more agile than on the ground. It's more weird that they're getting better at emulating the old look while still using more modern storyboarding techniques. If it looked like 0081 Senki's opening, you probably wouldn't be weirded out as much.

>Pretty cool but it's weird for an OYW unit to move this good
OYW units were more flexible than the next century of suits (canon)
you can still kinda tell it's 3d in animation, but it's incredibly minor and they seem to be getting better with every one of these they release. Even if it's never absolutely perfect, god bless them for trying to bring back the old style.
It's been a good few years since that particular MG Rick Dom was reprinted (and now there's a sort-of Ver1.5 kit, it's not likely to get another production run any time soon)
The MG Rick Dom (2022) that was released just last year comes with a beam bazooka. Other than that there's the oldass MG Rick Dom (1999) that comes with a beam bazooka.
The usual HG RX-78 or Zaku ends up being about 12cm or about 4.7" tall. Robot Spirits isn't exactly made to a specific scale but is usually close to HG in size. Pic related, left is a HG RX-78 and the right is a master grade RX-78.
Coming in to remind you that using digita and not traditional celsl is no longer an excuse for things looking like shit. They can clearly capture most of the stylings of cel if they wanted to.
>But goddamn that choreography is horrendous
not having Tomino doing the storyboarding for these scenes in Engage should be the evident answer for you anon.
Just remake all of it already!
>remake it in exactly the same style but 60fps
Why.
Cuz it's cool
Same reason G-Reco is animated like it is.
Tomino will hunt you down if his anime lacks TEXTURE.
Nice.
Love the beam bazooka.

Don't expect Redditors who got into anime in 2006 or later to know anything.
It was in the Mobile Suit Gundam Novelization. It's THAT old of an idea.
Also a Novel only matchup of Amuro vs Char

I think he means the animation effect used in the Origin opening that everyone loved when it came out.

Always do the thing.

I really loved the CCA one. The fighting looked so good and so close to CCA's style. Cannot wait to see them try a ZZ style redux.

Does any other Dom kit come with the beam bazooka? That might be the only reason to get it.

regular release, go buy it already and get some salmon pink paint.
It would be cheaper to just paint.
How tall is an HGUC 1/144? Is it shorter than a robot spirits? I got one HGUC Kshatriya but that one is huge I dont know the size of a regular suit.
They're comparable height yes.
Ok thanks

Yes, yes, the style is great. But goddamn that choreography is horrendous.
