They do, but its more profitable to make them on a lower budget and release them on streaming services.
>Look at me, I have a persecution fetish
We get a billion christmas movies every year.

yeah I'm with you
Patches too is also a lot of fun because its just Rip Torn acting like a total freak. But 90% of the film is just pure dreck and is hard carried by the remaining 10%
zoomers are currently growing up with zero impactful comedy films to reference
even boomers had shit like blazing saddles, animal house, and airplane but zoomers are fricked
it's all just memes now, which come and go within a year and then it's lame to reference it unless it's ironic
I'm pretty sure zoomers have seen a Ben Stiller turd or two in class or at Uncle Anon's house or something. Only reason we watched this piece of shit in the first place is because 20 years ago Mom bought a Dodgeball DVD from the bargain bin
Imagine the extreme autism to identify with it and make it a generational circlejerk
The Knuckles tv show also has an explicit Dodgeball connection with the inclusion of "The Ocho" sports broadcast.
I don't know why there's a sega nintendo console war connection with dodgeball
because zoomers and young millennials like friendship simulator content like streamers or cumtown. they'd rather listen to a couple people phone in a boring convo every week then sit and watch a movie with their actual friends so there's really no market for this type of stuff anymore.
No one talks about it anymore, but it was pushed pretty hard when it came out. People in uni were talking about it and comedians were bringing it up. My fricking mother was talking about it.
As an Australian I have to see this ugly fatty on tv ads. There was so 'all-star' collections of Australian celebrities in a random ad and she was in it, with her lezbo wife.
An international company is trying to aquire Globo Gym cast Ronny Cheing to be the guy trying to buy the company. Say some shit like shareholders have lost faith. Trying to find ways to save the company they see the Dodgeball World's all the best teams from around the world. They challenge Ronny Cheing winner takes the gym. Then just write good bits. Maybe have White comeback and secretly be behind the international company as he bought it with nft money or some stupid shit. Movie ends with White betraying the international company when he realizes the plan to cut him out. He finally gets the girl (new girl on team Globo) have her be young with daddy fetish and have him be pure cringe. Open mouth kissing sloppy shit. He reveals he got jacked in secret and has been wearing a body suit or something and he joins the team and helps defeat the international team. He becomes the new "Jared" of Globo. Ronny Cheing ends up homeless and curses his revenge on White and Lafleur
Alot of the jokes can come from the international teams. And bits around the tournament. Set it in a foreign country and have a wild night out scene. Honestly this would be one of the easiest sequels to write.
Realistically it's because capeshit and youtube/twitch/tiktok completely took over the market for "lesser" forms of entertainment like goofy comedies. Same reason sitcoms don't really exist anymore. Simple, fun, low-effort viewing is now consumed via lowest-common-denominator Marvel movies or some goober joking around on a subject catered specifically to each viewers niche on Youtube or TikTok or Twitch. Why are today's kids going to watch some comedy about some subject they can't relate to when there are a billion dudes playing the specific video game they like while cracking in-jokes specific to their niche? It costs nothing to make, whatever cost there is is covered by the creators themselves and not some studio, and there's an infinite supply of creators so there's no need for anyone to invest in something with broad appeal. That's my theory at least. What do I know?
This, Marvel movies becoming full of quips meant they filled the role of blockbuster action films as well as mid budget comedies, basically everything that would release in a given summer. In 2 hours of an Avengers movie there's easily 45 minutes of comedy scenes, and you don't have to sit through some trash story to get to them, since the rest of the movie is epic superhero stuff.
In the DVD there's a special feature where you can view different cheerleader dances, and before it plays the directors has a speaking part and says "I know why you're here, you know why you're here, let's not talk about it"
Also in the commentary track Ben Stiller gets comically angry at the sound team and they just put on the commentary track for Jennifers Body
>You didn't rewatch this random 2000s piece of shit from your youth? You must be a Young Millennial Zoomer Sociopath Nazi Commie!
I'm bored of the Internet now.
The broccoli head version of quoting comedy movies is quoting old vines. A few of the older ones will also quote YouTube viral videos from like the 10's but most of the truly old flash-era meme stuff is beyond their time. It's all "put it in reverse terry!", etc.
The end scene of Dodgeball is wild to me because of how sentiments changed. The end bit where she french kisses a woman and says she's a bisexual would be interpreted way differently. Back then it was fricking AWESOME, you get the girl and she's a freaky bisexual that will drag other women into bed with you. Now, Cinemaphile would scream about her being a roastie poly prostitute and how woke shit ruins everything.
Sacrificed comedies for A24. Was it worth it?
comedies were long dead before A24 was a thing.
It was a much simpler time back then
People aren’t allowed to laugh anymore. People aren’t allowed to have christmas movies anymore either.
There are about 2 million Christmas movies
They do, but its more profitable to make them on a lower budget and release them on streaming services.
>Look at me, I have a persecution fetish

They make a crapload of christmas movies dude
It's because of how jaded Hollywood is now, it's genuinely sad.
Yep, it’s 100% certified fricking kino
was just thinking about that other day while watching happy gilmore
happy gilmore is genuinely funny
dodgeball is more like reddit funny
Dodgeball is shit but White Goodman is one of the finest comedy characters of a generation
yeah I'm with you

frick youre spot on. there are 2 zoomies at my work and they never quote anything new or old. just scroll tiktok on their breaks. many such cases.
ohh noo zoomers dont have any media to obsess over as a substitute for having a personality what has the world come to
I'm pretty sure zoomers have seen a Ben Stiller turd or two in class or at Uncle Anon's house or something. Only reason we watched this piece of shit in the first place is because 20 years ago Mom bought a Dodgeball DVD from the bargain bin
Imagine the extreme autism to identify with it and make it a generational circlejerk
>seething this hard about a funny film
I'm not seething about my library of bargain bin DVDs I am noticing you twisting your nipples over it because you want to assfrick zoomers
>as a substitute for having a personality
Zoomers don't have these either.
Honestly
Their Starsky and Hutch movie was pretty funny
This movie was garbage
The official Nintendo of America twitter referenced Dodgeball in a tweet today, how bout that
I think its a kinda weird but a little bit funny
The Knuckles tv show also has an explicit Dodgeball connection with the inclusion of "The Ocho" sports broadcast.
I don't know why there's a sega nintendo console war connection with dodgeball
My top 3 are
>hot fuzz
>tropic thunder
>dodgeball
mainly only white men are allowed to be the butt of jokes anymore so they have gotten incredibly stale and predictable
I watched this movie a couple years ago and frankly I found it offensive. I would not recommend it.
because zoomers and young millennials like friendship simulator content like streamers or cumtown. they'd rather listen to a couple people phone in a boring convo every week then sit and watch a movie with their actual friends so there's really no market for this type of stuff anymore.
this was the exact moment comedy died
>OIH WAS RAPED
Literally no one watched this shit and no one ever talks about it outside of Cinemaphile.
No one talks about it anymore, but it was pushed pretty hard when it came out. People in uni were talking about it and comedians were bringing it up. My fricking mother was talking about it.

Was this before or after the female Ghostbusters?
How would Dodgeball 2 even work?
>La floor is rich as frick
>Majority shares holder of GLOBOhomosexual gym
>White is fat as frick
>also +20 years

Gotta be a becoming what you hate story with Lafluer turning out like Goodman and trying to aquire a local gym.
that's right chuddie your transphobic, sexist, misogynist ""comedies"" are over!
Grown ups was funny
This is why Hollywood doesn’t take risks anymore.
Wrong. It was because of this site investigating into reviews for video games that the fun is over.

>millennials peak form of """humor""" is just mindlessly quoting the same 5 middling movies out of context
Wew lad
Need help leaving, White?
Everything funny to be said has been said

wait a minute there was a guy on their team dressed like a pirate?
I should rewatch this one day, I remember it was the funniest movie I ever seen at the time when it popped up on tv
>SOMEBODY KILL ME PLEAAAAAAAASE
i still sing this when annoyed at something trivial
literally me
This was the only funny movie released in the last decade
Death of Stalin was good too.
Yes
Classic comedies were male driven. Any "comedy" made now would have a shoehorned female lead and, since women aren't funny, would inevitably fail.
>You didn't rewatch this random 2000s piece of shit from your youth? You must be a Young Millennial Zoomer Sociopath Nazi Commie!
I'm bored of the Internet now.
Dodgeball is genuinely funny though
I'm sorry your generation doesn't have any original film culture anon. At least you've got the MCU i guess.
Let me guess, two (you)s

Why did comedy completely die post-2014?
What was pedestrian became edgy became offensive became harmful.
It will get worse still.
Anyone want a stream?

To be fair it probably wouldn't have been presented as plainly as "wow the guy gets a hot & frisky bi gf" in a modern version of this movie
I'll buy it one of these days. Just you wait.
Isn't that convenient for you, and the clock
This was watched in just about every birthday i attended from 9-13, our little dumbasses never got tired of the funny dodgeball movie
frickin chuck norris
