THEY JUST HAD TO COPY MARVEL!

DC literally had the entire gameplan laid out before them on how to translate their comics into a cinematic universe and have it be amazing and make shitloads of dosh. All they had to do what copy what Marvel did, thats it! They fricked it up! How did they frick it up so badly?

The whole thing about Marvel was that they released all these individual movies to introduce characters and they took the time to tell a unique story for each hero in their own movie or even multiple movies, so that when Avengers finally came around it was like, all those movies culminated to that moment where theyre together on the screen. Theres a feeling like, "all these heroes youve come to know and love over a long time, are now teaming up together in one big movie" and that carries a sort of weight when you build everything properly over time like Marvel did.

DC was and is simply just all over the place. DC wanted to skip the buildup and jump right into the Avengers level hype and media and money. But you dont get that without doing the slow buildup and gradual worldbuilding, without the years of establishing plot and setting. They kinda just threw you in there and gave it to you all at once, which doesnt make it feel like some big event that was built up to, it kinda just exists. They arent established parts coming together into something greater than they were, its just "the Justice League."

and that brings me to my main point, DC is never going to be like Marvel. They fricked it up so hard its never gonna be what it could have been. 100s of batman movies, 100s of superman movies, reboots of everything out the ass, multiple versions of movies, rebooting again after you already established a timeline. You would have to erase every DC movie post Dark Knight from existence and everybody's memory and start fresh.

Has nothing to do with it. WB could have started with a hopeful, well cast and bright New Frontier, most of the New Frontier mains are famously well known characters.

Instead they started with poorly cast, tonally rubbish pseudo-psychological garbage.

This, if DC had simply released a good movie it would have been fine

Pure bullshit. TSS was what you people ask for and it flopped hard. Snyder movies made more than every Hamada and pedo Gunn movie will ever make. Nobody cared for Shazam 2, nobody cares for Blue Beetle, everybody is trashing The Flush. Keep coping

Because the godawful Snyder movies had already poisoned the well at that point, there was no way to turn that shit around. Especially with The Suicide Squad, which had the exact same cast and name as the first movie.

TSS wasn’t what people wanted. They want solid pulpy entertainment. None of that meta subversive shit.

      >No, my invincible son, people HAVE to die and you shouldn't save them, Hell, I'll say that if someone doesn't die you should finish the job, just stomp on the frickers' head, maybe kick him in the balls before, if someone sees you? Kill them all with your laser eyes, I fricking hate other people so goddamn much

I mean, didn't they go a little bit too far with it? I think that was kinda out of character

Marvel had been putting out movies since the first X-Men. They were even set on building a cinematic universe centered around Daredevil before everything up to Iron Man was flopping left and right. DC meanwhile was banking on Nolan's Batman films while trying to reboot Superman and find a companion film series like Green Lantern.

    >Man, I’m sure glad the DC movies are dealing with more mature themes and issues. The Marvel action-comedy formula is not what I’m looking for in a film about these characters.
    >Proceed to spend 10 years watching DC trash that for Marvel copies and hearing idiots go Muh Snyder, Muh MAHVEL movies, Muh Donner, Muh Martha, etc.

In their second movie with BvS they tried to combine the stories of The Death of Superman and also The Dark Knight Returns. Trying to do these stories without the years and years of build up they need was beyond stupid. I'll never understand what Snyder was thinking.

Shareholders wanted Avengers movie money as soon as possible.

They didn’t want Captain America: The First Avenger money.

    Blame shareholders.

Basically. In their minds, only Batman and Superman in the movie and fighting each other could beat Avengers.

No that was what Snyder thought. A basic team up movie over trying to do The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman would have been fine. Snyder just wanted to be the one to adapt the classic stories before anyone else.

Nope, it's a different medium than comics

MCU is saccharine, formulaic and corporate because the cinematic universe forces one style (especially so after Disney)

No director wants to do their takes or adaptations

DC should just give up on this live action shit and double down on the DCAU again. That was easily their best era in terms of quality and popularity.
