And I don't know whether it's Maya improvising or actually being directed to act like that but she always says it with this super-hesitant tone like she doesn't even buy the "just friends" shtick herself. It's almost like the Duffers are still trying to bait people with Steve/Robin being a thing.

As far as modern media goes she's OK imo. I'm shocked that they still have her closeted to everybody but Steve instead of having the whole cast be a jarring anachronistic big gay troony love pride club.
