Thinking about watching the Alien franchise, only movies I haven't seen are Alien Resurrection and Prometheus. How do you rate the franchise?
Alien and Aliens are the best of all of them.
Alien=good scifi horror
Aliens=good action thriller
Alien 3, however, i stopped watching after the first act.
Resurrection I watched all the time as a child but is not great (frick that cringe ending lmao)
Prometheus is okay but no soul. It has many small details that cause me to have a stroke. If you turn your brain off, Prometheus can be good.
Alien: Covenant has the same issues as Prometheus but 5x worse and the deleted scenes on youtube actually have character development.
All in all. first 2 are GOATs and every movie after (ESPECIALLY the AVP movies) are mostly garbage. You can watch them if you like, no one is telling you not to watch them.

Alien is peak SOVL. Aliens is very good. Alien3 and Resurrection have some good scenes. Prometheus isn't half as bad as Cinemaphile says, Covenant is the weakest.
Haven't watched the predator ones.

Prometheus had some cool ideas and David was a really interesting character. However, the way the plot was executed as well as all of the supplemental characters were terrible. Its pretensions aren't on the level of laughable most of the time but the fact they're juxtaposed with Fast and Furious level characterization and a really dumb plot that seeks cheap horror instead of the existential dread the themes should entail makes it overall bad.

David was executed fine. Like I said, the plot was executed poorly and the ideas weren't utilized where they should have been. Overall: bad.
