Like genuinely, when they had all their concepts and stuff done, who did they think would look at this shit and think, yeah I want to actually play this garbage for hours on end besides a few dozen actually gay edgelords.

Maybe not much longer. Wasn't the Helldivers 2 CEO stepping down and being replaced by a suit from the AAA industry? Those lizards are all probably looking to move where the money and goodwill is and they'll bring all their bullshit with them.
Helldivers 2 was made possible because they had Sony funding and backing the promotion and release of the game. Everyone thought it was indie, because Arrowhead is a small studio, but it was anything but.

My guess is that the execs just wanted something DC and lives service, the devs didn't actually care about the game beyond the paycheck, and so everything about the writing was captained by SBI for the DEI-tards. Nowhere did anyone ask if this is actually what the target gamer audience actually wanted.
A demographic that maybe never existed. I think the people who defended this game who legitimately weren't shills, were likely just feeling bad for Rocksteady or trying to do some damage control because they knew they'd have no one to play with if the overall opinion of the game was universally shitty. Maybe they believed the next round of patches and season content would make the game something better.

You could make it work by playing with the established lore >Instead of putting her into cryogenic sleep, Victor gives Nora some sort of treatment similar to what turned him into Mr.Freeze instead >She's now stuck in a suit and has to get regular transfusions of whatever substance but she's alive >Shenanigans insure and Victor is killed and Nora thrown out into the world alone >Suit is a fricking tank and with enough jerry rigging she managed to find a way to use the cryogenics as a weapon to take revenge >Has to resort to mercenary work to afford finding renegade super scientists to continue her treatments and upgrade/maintain her suit to stay alive a little longer to hunt down the men who killed her husband >Joins the SS because Waller promised to give her everything she needs for revenge

I was going to ask for the logic behind releasing a new character who's niche, being good at shooting, was already taken by someone else, Deadshot, but then I remembered that Captain Boomerang uses a gun and they all fill that niche.
