if you are an actor on a set and it's your job to point a gun at someone and pull the trigger. it's NOT your job to know how the gun works. It's NOT your job to know if it's been loaded with the correct blank ammunition.
The armorer failed to load the weapon correctly, Baldwin was given an incorrectly loaded firearm. Balwind performed his role. The gun went off. Killed the woman. Armorors fault. Case closed. End of fricking story.

no im saying if your an actor on a movie set. it's only your job to perform your part in the movie. nothing else. the career position of amoror exists for the sole purpose of putting someone on the set that knows how firearms work and how to properly load them and ensure they are handed off to the actors correctly loaded. It is not the job of the actor to know anything about a firearm or how one even works.

Not if her qualifications checked out when hired. I highly doubt you can just show up to a big budget movie set and just claim to be an armorer and get the job.
and as far as other safety incidents go with discharges. that again falls on the armorer. why would more rounds be loaded into a prop that are needed to do a scene?

Segal is a complete asswipe, and as far as I know he's often the producer on his movies. That he ignores safety measures is as much his problem as it is Baldwin's, he's just lucky he's never shot anyone. You can find several actors mention this over the years, that unions want the actors themselves to make sure the guns are safe. I remember Cruise and Reeves talking about this in interviews at some point among others.

It absolutely is the actor's job to know how handle a firearm safely and proper productions have the actors trained how to handle the firearms in a safe manner. Even a gun shooting blanks can cause accidents and death (look up Brandon Lee's death for example). The armorer is there to regulate safety, handle the guns etc. and to make sure the actor isn't doing anything to frick around with the guns. But the actor also needs to know how to handle the firearm. With your logic there could be a simple (non-stunt) driving scene and the actor could run someone over and it would be okay because it's not his job to know how to drive a car safely.
