For some nostalgia throwback books, it's cheaper for Marvel to do a miniseries about a past era with older creators because they can't afford paying older creators to do a long run on a comic
They're also stuck because they don't want to admit the directions they've been doing for ongoings have been terrible
It lets old creator do something without having them have to catch up on continuity. Also hopefully a quick nostalgia buck, they must bring in some profit despite being near the bottom of the sales chart.
Major X was one of these and it sold extremely well.

greg land gets shit on for what literally every mangaka does on a daily basis and what 99% of comic, concept artist, twitter homosexuals and more do every day. Hes just hte first one people noticed and started shitting on for doing it. Artists like Bryan Hitch are lauded as greatest shit and blatantly trace all the time. People eat up the super slow pace and constant delays of a literal tracer and praise him for the realistic art. Deodato traces all the fricking time. Blatant tracing too. All the modern garbage ones they pay less than minimum wage just load up blender or clip paint assets and trace those/convert to lineart. Its how you get shit like a bathtub upagainst a door in batgirl or other shitty 'art'.
