yeaahh i have to admit, it works better when she's merely flawed but not a terrible person
in the book all the kids are fricking rotten, but it's harder to sympathize with harriet. Basically the new show is like being canceled, and the book is closer to that thing we used to have before canceling, where someone actually did a crime and people get really emotional about it to the point their feelings eclipse the act itself

If she were to be in the show, would she made to be nicer (since most of the other characters were made nicer compared to their book counterparts), or would she still be the vain and controlling socialite from the book?

It's a shame the Harriet's revenge sequence was rushed in this adaptation. Would've loved to see more of Harriet's mischievous and bratty side.
Had Harriet not gone ahead with her frog revenge, how long do you suppose the other students would have tormented and harassed Harriet before deciding that enough was enough? Janie and Sport looked like they were going to show Harriet sympathy after Rachel spilled the ink on her, but were reminded by Marion of their anger towards her.
In my defense, it mostly wasn’t that sexual. I had a pair of great aunts that had lived together as sisters/roommates I think their whole lives, and I’m like 98% percent sure it wasn’t an incestuous lesbian thing, they just got along really well and lived together. So I thought siblings living with each other as adults was a common and normal thing, and that my brother and I would just eventually become the Cuthberts from Anne of Green Gables.
I did also coincidentally develop an incest fetish eventually, but that’s just because I’m a pervert- it probably had little to nothing to do with my childhood fantasy about having an ongoing platonic lifelong relationship with my brother. Maybe.

The only thing I could see that could work is if their harassment of her spirals out of control, and she's either publicly humiliated, or she actually gets hurt.

Krita is open source (free), Sai is still one time pay, but most drawgays still use the 12 year old older shareware version
